Re: Mother of all repair lists

You would just need to replace the boot that is leaking (look for the one with all the lube slung around it..) If both are leaking then look at getting a replacement they are 89-101 in my area... May be less of a pain in the long run vs 25 per boot...

Re: Anyone bypassed the glass grid antenna (e) for a whip?

Here is what I would do and why... (HAM radio guy here and many years as a Comm Maintenance guy in the Marines...)

DO NOT use the same antenna for you radio as you would for a CB for many reasons....

1. 4watts from the CB going directly into your head unit is BAD. Over time you will burn the tuner ...

Re: desperate need of some help/advice

Have you had the codes cleared out and they come back, or is it just old codes hanging in there pestering you?

If they are New codes please post and we can direct you in the direction you neeed to head in. Most auto parts stores can clear these for you at no cost or a basic code reader that you can ...

Re: 217k on 00 SLE. Still got more miles or coming to an end

if the belt is sqeaking with out the oil on it that means its slipping... whne you add an oil to it, it slips more and silences the "change me" indicator as well. leading to an out od sight out of mind condition and when it fails out in the middle of no where then you are stuck because of a "cheap ...

Re: Engine Hot A/C disabled warning, high temp on gauge

WOW... those prices on the parts is close to double of what I see them for around here...

I bought a set of Valve cover gaskets (GM Parts) for a 1/3 of what they want to charge and I replaced them myself...

Coolant Elbows same thing, bought both for less than $10 and installed myself... All of ...

Re: sunroof spoilet/deflector

Mine has one that pops up just enough when the Sunroof is opened... I hav played with it at speed before and it makes a difference. I find that if you get buffetting at speed then pop open a rear windo about 1/2 inch and it goes away.

Re: Rear seat belt

What I was getting at with the "ratcheting" is that on a 99 Monte Carlo for example, it dosen't have the tethers and if you pull the belt all the way out and let it back in slowly it "ratchets" as to not allow you to pull it back out until it retracts fully... So you can put a car seat in tightly so ...

Re: '04 Trans dropped into the '02 (DONE) well almost...

PCM reprogrammed... It now has all 4 gears. I had to get a program for a 2003 loaded into the PCM to drive the trans properly. Still overall, I came out cheaper doing this than having the trans shop reuild mine... (They wanted $1500)

Even after buying tools I didn't have (34mm socket) I came out ...

Re: Rear seat belt

My 02 has the tethers and it dose NOT ratchet when you pull them all the way out as well, I think its designed to use the 3 point as others have stated :D

My kiddos are strapped in with the tethers... And the have yet to to go flying into the front seat or out the sunroof :D

Re: security problem?

Here is how you program the keys...

Remember to set your Parking brake to kill the DRL's and saving drain on the battery.

In order to initiate the relearn process:

1. Insert a master key (black head) into the ignition switch.
2. Turn to the “On” position without starting the engine. The ...

the factory transpan gasket is reusable and it $50ish at the dealer... the trans filter kit that I just got for mine said to reuse the factory gasket in the directions if it was useable and provided a cork gasket just in case....

'04 Trans dropped into the '02 (DONE) well almost...

3 months after failure... I finally have the car back on the road, well kind of.

The trans works great minus the fact that it will not shift out of 2nd. What I thought I ordered and what I needed was 2 different things. I needed the 2004 file loaded, but instead got the 04 trans info loaded into ...

Re: '01 SSEi Motor Mounts

you have a total of 4 mounts.

You have the puck mount that you are familiar with.

You have an "Engine Mount" on the Passenger side,Follow the Big chunk of aluminum that attaches to the engine on the oil pan/upper block to the frame (the engine "hangs" from it...) Can be seen from the wheel well ...

Sadly yes, not sure where you are looking for a replacement at, but if you are looking for a used one a series III out of a Grand Prix can be retrofit and will have less miles (in most cases)

Yes, I seperated the ball joint, AND yes I did remove the spindle nut... :P It still has not seperated, but I an getting ready to put the car back together now. I pulled out the Engine and transmission today. and decided that it was easier to put the car back together by putting in the transmission ...

Re: 04-06 GTO Seats In A 2000+ Bonnie?

Big reason the seatbelts are in the seat are due to the side airbags that are also in the seats... So that is ALOT of safety gone with that change :beerchug:
