security problem?

Post by jojo51592 »

Last night I was driving to see my cousin at college on my way my dash lit up and guages stopped working, and I was told to "service theft system". When I left her college my sle started right up with no warnings on the dash, drove the hour drive home with no problems. When I went to leave for class today and my keyfob didn't work, then my car didnt start. Acted like it was going to and just clicked, and the dash said "unknown driver". Called a dealership close and i was told to leave my ignition"on" for 10 minutes and try it and when i did nothing happened. My battery connections are good, I unhooked the battery and when I hooked it up again the alarm went off.
Does anyone know what this would be or what to do about it.

Here is how you program the keys...

Remember to set your Parking brake to kill the DRL's and saving drain on the battery.

In order to initiate the relearn process:

1. Insert a master key (black head) into the ignition switch.
2. Turn to the “On” position without starting the engine. The security light should illuminate and stay on.
3. Wait approximately 10 minutes or until the security light turns off.
4. Turn off the ignition switch and wait 10 seconds.
5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 two more times with the same key.
6. Turn the ignition off. The vehicle will now learn the key transponder information on the next start cycle.
7. Start the vehicle. If vehicle starts and runs normally, and security light is off, the relearn is complete.

If additional keys are to be relearned:

8. Turn the vehicle off.
9. Insert the next key to be learned and turn the ignition switch to the “On” position within 10 seconds of removing the previously used key.
10. Wait for the security light to turn off. It should happen quickly. You may not even notice the light come on, because it will learn the key transponder immediately.
11. Repeat steps 8 through 10 for any additional keys.

As far as the keyfob, those need to be programmed with the Tech-2

The Keys are programmed to the PCM and the keyfob is to the BCM, so you may want to have the connections checked between

That's not going to do him any good, he needs this:

30 Minute Re-Learn Procedure
Use this procedure after replacing any of the following components:

* The keys/lock cylinders
* The theft deterrent controller module
* The PCM (if necessary, refer to the Important statements above)

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF, using a master Pass-Key III key (black).
2. Observe the security telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn off.
3. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .
4. Repeat step 1 through step 3 two more times, for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes . IMPORTANT: The vehicle learns the key information and/or passwords on the ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
5. Start the vehicle (the vehicle has now learned the key and password information).
6. Clear any DTCs using the scan tool.

You cannot open any doors, etc during this process. I roll the window down and reach in through the open window to turn it on and off.
Bye Bye:
