Got the crap scared out of me this morning on my way to work. I'm driving along in my SSEi, and I notice a blinking red light next my foot. I look down, and it's attached to some gizmo that is itself dangling down from the underside of my console by some thin red and black wire.

Now, mind you, I've seen WAY too many movies in my day. I'm thinking this might be a car bomb -- why else would there be a blinking red light wired into my car and hanging down by my foot? I imagine all sorts of horrible things to come, like it going off when the speed drops below a certain point, or when I turn the car off, or open the door, or whatever. I got so freaked out I called the wife to say "just in case something happens to me today... etc." She said "oh THAT -- I've seen that before! It must have fallen down from where it was previously."

So I calmed down, and obviously survived the journey. I guess the secret agents and mafia goons weren't after me today. Which brings me back to another question:

What the heck is that thing?

Whatever it is, I don't think it is stock.

Sounds like a warning light for an aftermarket alarm setup or something, maybe something for a remote start that locks the doors and stuff?

We used to joke about the horn dangling underneath my Mercedes when I had it, "That's just my bomb..." I think this fits that description. :P The looks I got were funny, especially the guy at the gas station. :btruestory:

sounds to me like an aftermarket alarm or autostart status LED to me that has been overlooked?

Well; I do have an aftermarket remote starter, so maybe it has something to do with that. I guess I'll just secure this back up and forget about it.
