New from Indiana!

Post by smokinssei02 »

Hello all! My name's Josh. I'm 20 years old and enjoy driving, detailing cars, and listening to rock music. I've been creeping the forums for a few days now after picking up my new Bonneville from a friend of mine. It's a 2002 SSEi with 192k mostly highway on it. It's got a few issues that need to be addressed, so I thought I would sign up for the forum and try to learn as much as possible about these cars and possibly make a few friends and have a good time while I'm at it.

The car looks very nice! I didn't see it earlier for some reason.

We have a few around here that are in to detailing as well, what is your process and what products do you prefer?

Any mods planned yet, cosmetic or performance?

Thanks for the compliments! I usually do a 3 step which involves a rubbing compound, a pre-waxing glaze with an orbital buffer at low speed, and a synthetic wax (although this bonneville was neglected so I used a cleaner this time around.) I prefer to use Mother's or Meguiar's products. They've always left me satisfied. I do plan on eventually tinting the windows and the tails. I would like to get a GXP front bumper but it's not really a must-have for me. As for performance, I'd like to do a CAI, a cam or rockers, probably the hockey puck mount because my existing mount(s) are/is shot, and possibly some exhaust work. Not sure on that yet.

I'm not a hardcore detailer and I don't know all the tricks of the trade but I love doing it because for me it is relaxing and I seem to get a lot of compliments on my work.

You should check out www.autogeekonline.net it is a great forum for those that are into detailing and all aspects of it, I have learned so much from that forum it isn't even funny, they are very friendly too.

The black cars look amazing with tinted tails as well as tinted headlights (check the link in my sig for the black SSEi project thread)

I have had a solid hockey puck mount in my '03 for the last 105,000 miles with zero complaints.
