'04 Trans dropped into the '02 (DONE) well almost...

Post by leatherneck »

3 months after failure... I finally have the car back on the road, well kind of.

The trans works great minus the fact that it will not shift out of 2nd. What I thought I ordered and what I needed was 2 different things. I needed the 2004 file loaded, but instead got the 04 trans info loaded into the 02 file which seems to not control the trans properly. So I need to have my PCM modded again... Hopefully this is covered by my lifetime modification...

I pulled the engine and trans together on this one as I wanted to do some cleaning and the like and change out some gaskets on the engine and thought it easier to do the work outside of the car...

I found it easier to put them back in seperately lol... It made it easier to get that pest of a CV joint put back together and installed...

I had 3 DTC's appear and due found the following
Inj 6 Circuit - Inj 6 had came unplugged (or didnt get seated all the way to begin with).
Misfire (due to above)
MAP sensor (found loose ground)

Once I got those corrected, the car ran more smoothly than I have ever remembered.

PCM reprogrammed... It now has all 4 gears. I had to get a program for a 2003 loaded into the PCM to drive the trans properly. Still overall, I came out cheaper doing this than having the trans shop reuild mine... (They wanted $1500)

Even after buying tools I didn't have (34mm socket) I came out ahead. Though it took me forever to get around to doing the work... I waited till it was warm out before starting on the project...
