Re: Most power
I have a feeling these transmissions will still force a 4th gear change with the shifter in 3 but I've never tried.
My 2000 does not......... Ask me how i know
brutal. I know I have been in cars where if you left it in 1 on the shifter it would still force a 2nd gear shift at the RPM/speed ...

Re: Most power
I don't recommend leaving it in 3 if you're going to be doing things like that anywhere. That's how I killed my 96 SSEi, it over revved and broke a rod. You could shift it manually in the gear you want to start off in, but do not have it in anything but D over 70 MPH.

Re: Most power
Yesterday when I raced I was going about 55 and floored it and it had no power really then all te power kicked in and put me back in my seat. 55-90 in a few seconds if that

Re: Looking to increase HP, suggestions ?
another fairly simple alternative not yet discussed is going e85 (assuming you have e85 stations near you). Grand Prix guys seem to do it a lot. You can pretty much change out the injectors for 42#ers and slap on a much smaller pulley. And from what I have read you wouldn't even need a tune if you ...

Re: Question for those who live in Snowy Climates
I live in Minnesota (not very far from you too) and use the FWI kit from Intense all year round. No problems aside from the already mentioned noise on cold starts. Quite frankly it's still loud on cold starts even in the summer but not like it is in the winter. It's a sound you eventually get used ...

Re: Not opportunity knocking...
it kinda sounds like your engine may have had some coolant sucked in where it's not supposed to be. Quite frankly you'll probably never know until you crack open the engine and take a look inside. You could start by looking under the valve covers for anything obvious but most likely a rod bearing or ...

Re: Intense Fenderwell Intake Problems?!
I love people's reactions to cold start ups. Everyone always freaks out. Just gutting out the baffles in the stock airbox make it loud though too. I've been using Intense's FWI setup on my car for years now and I drive it all year round in Minnesota. Unless you're getting yourself into some stupid ...

Re: Topswap build!
I topswapped and cammed my bonne a while ago. Still the same transmission and I have about 122k miles, I think I did the topswap and cam at 109k miles. I surprise the hell out of a lot of people with the whine. I only have a stock 3.8 pulley right not but plan to get headers and go MPS with a 3.6 ...

Re: MN crew: NEED HELP ASAP!!!! Who is near Brooklyn Park???
I live like a mile from there. Too bad it's not there anymore. I have a DHP tuner that I could run scans on it and see if you have a failing sensor. If you're ever in the Maple Grove/Osseo area with it I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

Re: lean condition question
Are you getting a check engine light? Or running a scan? Why do you think it's running lean? If you're just guessing based on 1/4 mile time you should also consider other factors like temperature, humidity, track conditions, if you were spinning tires, etc?

Re: ZZP PCM?
I'm not sure about L67 PCMs but when I got a basic PCM from Intense racing for my Bonneville when it was still a wee L36 it pretty much just changed my fans for my 180* stat, removed speed limiter, removed a lot of torque management from transmission settings, quickened the shift times, and I think ...

Re: KR scanning
I use an aeroforce to monitor my KR and never see anything. I have to run a scan and look at the log to ever see it but it's usually a fraction of a degree and on shift changes so I'm not concerned. I'm topswapped with a 3.8 pulley (stock), ZZP VS cam with 90# valve springs, FWI, colder plugs, 180 ...

Re: adding 180 stat
So why have alot of people acted like it was a big deal if you dont have the fans set for the right temp?
If you don't set the fans then it's kind of pointless. It will obviously keep the temperature down a bit inside the engine, and most would correctly state that's all that really matters, but ...

Re: Intense vs ZZP anything and everything
Both vendors are great. I've bought a VS cam, valve springs, used fuel injectors, and a few other odds and ends from ZZP and I have bought the FWI, gaskets, and a few other things from Intense and everything went great and I'm still rocking all the goodies on my Bonne today. So far it's only ...

Re: Knock
Personally I would never bother with a trans cooler unless you plan on towing or see trans temps excessively high. I don't think heat is an issue with our transmissions. It's hard pieces and sensors breaking and typical wear'n'tear.

Re: Knock
Have you guy insulated your knock sensor and trans casing? The reason i askis that I plan to do that very soon if its worth the effort.
:eek2: don't insulate the sensor itself. If anything maybe insulate the trans otherwise you'll be looking for loose bolts, loose exhaust, or clearance issues ...

A few degrees on really hot days or hard beatings can be expected but ideally zero. Sometimes you'll catch some shifting gears while going WOT. I'm tuned at 18* timing. I think I have my aeroforce set to light up at 3 degrees and I've never seen it light up. I've seen some blips ...
