Re: My '79 Brougham Coupe
I'm in Chelmsford, essex and I do plan on going to a few shows this year. The AACI nationals at Jelmarsh are two I plan to be at and the *dang* yankees at north Weald is another good one. A couple of local meets and the Pontiac owners one are also on my list.
Can you suggest any others?

Re: My '79 Brougham Coupe
Actually, I think it looks good. Along the lines of MadMax apocalypse machine.
I'm actually shocked that a Bonneville of that vintage made it's way over there, much less a coupe.
It was actually bought over pretty much from the factory in '79. I believe it's the only one of its kind in Europe ...

Re: 1979 350 V8
Brilliant, thanks for the help. I've been advised skimming he head my change the compression to pre '77 levels, would this be a better option? I've been advised many different things and don't know what to believe! Haha.

1979 350 V8
So, my car is has an R code which apparently means it's an Oldsmobile 4-bbl engine, which I believe means it's one of the rocket engines.
If this is true the the pre '77 engines had better flowing heads, I believe 9:1 compression as opposed to 8.4:1.
Would it be possible to fit the heads from an ...

Re: VIN and trim tag decoding (1979)
It was built in Fairfax, Kansas apparently. I believe I've managed to track down the correct information for the ViN from an old Pontiac book I found online but the trim still confuses me.

VIN and trim tag decoding (1979)
Has anyone got a reliable source for the decoding of the VIN and trim tag?
I've found various sources that give me some information, but I'm lacking some other.
VIN so far shows it's a 1979 Bonneville 2 door coupe built in fairfax (X-code), but the engine has a R code which is apparently a 350ci ...

I'm gonna go ahead and play the 'clueless brit' card, but what exactly does Brougham mean to the trim?

Re: So I wired in the headunit... Now the lights won't turn
They do indeed stay on regardless of key position. Right now the key is on my bedside table and if the battery were connected they'd be on
I mean the exterior side lights. Not sure if they have a different name in the states.

So I wired in the headunit... Now the lights won't turn off.
As it says in the title really. Managed to wire in a retro sound model 2, which works gloriously, but now the sidelights won't turn off. I have no idea how I have managed it, but auto electrics have always baffled me...

I may have smashed the drivers window after trying to fix it falling off the rails... Oops. Haha.
I'm Chelmsford, Essex and haven't had the car long so not go to many shows. Got a couple lined up, although the thermostat is sticking so waiting on a replacement to turn up.
