Wiring in a headunit

Post by JimmyF »

I have a 1979 Bonneville Brougham coupe and am about to install a retro sound model 2. It has an ISO connector, but I need to wire in the plug to the car. Anyone got any diagrams or advice?

Firstly, how do I remove the *dang* original 8-track radio??

Do you have a picture? I believe it is a 2 knob style radio right?

If so you remove (by pulling out on) the 2 knobs.
The shafts where the knobs came off of should have a nut on them, this holds the front of the radio into the dash. There may or may not be a brace mounted in the rear of the radio too.

Ok, so I have fitted the radio and everything works beautifully, except now the sidelights are permanently on. Any suggestions?
