As it says in the title really. Managed to wire in a retro sound model 2, which works gloriously, but now the sidelights won't turn off. I have no idea how I have managed it, but auto electrics have always baffled me...
'79 Boneville Brougham coupe, by the way.
So I wired in the headunit... Now the lights won't turn off.

Yikes. Do they stay on regardless of key position? If not, then I'd look at the wiring again. Perhaps take a picture of it. I'm guessing something is feeding back power into the illumination circuit. By side lights, what do you mean exactly...interior or exterior?
A temporary fix does not exist. It becomes a solution until it needs to be fixed again.

They do indeed stay on regardless of key position. Right now the key is on my bedside table and if the battery were connected they'd be on
I mean the exterior side lights. Not sure if they have a different name in the states.

hmmm.... if you disconnect the radio do the lights turn off again? might be something else like ground or something that was just a fluke

It is odd. Could be something feeding back into the light switch causing power to be fed to the parking/marker lights. It would be worth it to do a voltage check at the bulb to see if you are getting the full 12v or less. If it's less, then it's something possibly feeding back into the light circuit? I'd check voltage, or at the very least, pull the head unit and disconnect it and verify that it's related to the radio. I thought there was a timer that would shut off the lights after 10 minutes....you might want to see if they do actually shut off after a while. That may rule out or in other factors.
