In my heads up display it says "check gages". shouldn't it be spelled "gauges"? I noticed this a while ago and it has bothered me ever since

Aren't a lot of the interior parts made in Canadia? Maybe those goofy Canucks use gage instead of gauge.

Re: check gages???
my guess is that it would have cost GM an extra $10 to put in the extra letter and we all know which one they would choose

No Gauge is spelled Gauge up here. At least it is on this side of the country.
I've always used gage to gage distance or measurement and gauge as one of them interesting things on the dash of the car or truck or on an air tank etc that gives you a measurement.
Interesting....... my spell checker says that gage is correct and gauge is wrong.
*edit* cause I'm an idiot

Re: check gages???
They probably used that spelling to satisfy both countries. Better than spending a few thousand dollars to produce and develop two different HUD units.

Well you know GM anything to save a few bucks. LOL. Someone probably had the bright idea to drop the "U" looked in websters and realized that it works so did it.

Re: check gages???
i think another justification (besides it probably being SLIGHTLY cheaper) is uniformity. "Gages" has 5 letters, like "check"
CHECK
GAGES
it kinda lines up, with gauges, it'd be a little bit offset and weird.

Re: check gages???
But on some cars the there is a check gauges light and the words are on top of each other. Makes good sense. I honestly didn't think of that.
