Transmission lag
I just bought an 04 with 99,000 miles on it.I noticed when shifting it into drive,it takes a split second longer to change gears than any other car Ive driven. If I do it the way I normally would I end up jerking the transmission which I know isnt good.Is this just the way these cars shift or is it an actual problem, the only thing I can think of is maybe a dirty valve body.

Re: Transmission lag
Try running some seafoam transtune for a hundred miles or so, then drop the pan and do a fluid and filter change.
Bye Bye:

Sorry,I didnt mean 1-2,2-3,etc. shifts,I meant it took a split second longer to shift into drive.

Re: Transmission lag
That split second delay might be a symptom of a bad front trans/motor mount -- a very common failiure on 2000+ Bonnevilles.

Re: Transmission lag
or it could simply be a sticky solenoid with a nice varnish buildup that could be taken care of by the seafoam trans tune.
highly recommend the stuff..i've used it to resurrect aging, rough, and delayed shifting transmissions with great results.
as Ed mentioned, 100 miles or so and then drop the pan, drain, and change the filter...hopefully it'll start working you towards the solution you're looking for.

Attend the Michigan meet, and we can check things over for you. Barring that, I could probably meet up with you somewhere to check things out.
