Glad you made it home andrew..

This looks a lot like the guy ran the Piss out of the motor and at some point the piston started hitting the head and he kept driving it knocking untill it let go and went Boom.. Look a lot like the engine was well into the revs when it let go...

I'm thinking that even though the engine failed horribly, that it still ran (somewhat) after everything broke. The engine turned over just fine.

Same coils/ICM because I had to swap the SC tensioner, but I did use the wires from the new engine. I'm guessing that the newer coils/ICM will fix this problem.

I don't plan on seafoaming it, that is just another reason to plug the cat. When I pulled the exhaust off, the downpipe was covered in oil/coolant on the inside. It took a good 10 minutes of idling to burn all that crap off (didn't I already mention that in this thread? LOL)

Today I started by swapping the coils/ICM. I tested both the old/new, and they were all within spec. The different coils/ICM didn't fix it at all.

Next I tried swapping some used wires on. It made it much better, but still not perfect.

Ed had given me 5 new Autolite 605's plugs that I had put in, he couldn't find the 6th at the time. I bought a new 605 plug today and installed it. Perfect. That one plug was probably the issue the whole time.

Those plugs were nasty. Not surprising at all that the one was the issue.

Sadly, I haven't had progress for weeks. The only thing it really needs is that *dang* drivers door handle. I can not find one, especially in red. The dealer stocks it, but I'm not paying $90+ for an unpainted door handle.

I found these rims/tires on craiglist a couple weeks ago. I told the guy I was interested, but he wanted $300. I said no thanks. About a week later he got back to me and said he could do $200. I met him halfway in Belle Plaine, got them home, and went to work. I recently came into a LARGE stash of 225/60R16 tires, so I was able to get a set of near new matching tires for the PA. I had them mounted on my new chrome wheels. I think it completely changes the look of the car, for the better of course. Makes me miss my other 99 PAU!

Here are the leftovers of my stash.... going on craigslist for $10/each

and the old rims... anyone interested in these? They are pretty light aluminum rims, 18lbs... good for slicks? I'm probably gonna scrap them if they can't sell.

Are they 16"?

I dunno, they're kinda close to what I have anyway...probably wouldn't be a point. Maybe someone who has a Buick with base wheels.

Yes, they are 16. Might make your car a little newer looking... maybe do a photoshop?

I might be interested in at least two of the rims. They are the same bolt pattern and offset, correct?

Got some depressing news for the PA today. I took it out for a testdrive, and I don't know how I missed this before, but the sun was shining very bright.... the windshield is covered with scratches all over from a bad wiper blade. If I'm serious about selling a good car, the windshield is going to have to be replaced. I would have it replaced with insurance, but the truck needs a replacement also, and I don't want to have 2 claims at once. ugh.

Absolutely fantastic choice on the wheels. :beerchug: Really makes it pop for what it is. Simple, but clean.

Windshield thing is a pain. I'd say fix the PA first, get it sold and out of the way, off the insurance, and oops, look at that, the truck needs one...

I lived with mine being heavily chipped from May to July, and then one day, with it baking in the sun, it cracked, and then drove it without it spreading and really being a pain to me from early July to Oct 29th. Never really irritated me, so maybe my opinion doesn't count. :P

Got some quotes for the windshield today. The cheapest I found was $243.37. Pretty good price I'd say. I think I'm going to do the truck through insurance (since its currently insured) and do the car out of pocket (since its not insured right now).

Yup, I'd say that's a great price. I'll refrain from whining about how much we'd pay up here for the same glass
