I'm the #2 guy to do it. Only custom work is creating a simple bracket for the e-brake cable. Granted when applied the force is weak, but its better than nothing, and its legal.
I have pics posted on the FB group which I can repost here for you later tonight so you get ideas.

New wheels aren't in the budget unless I can land GXP wheels.

Looking for Summer/Performance tire inputs for the 97 SSEi
Looking for input for summer/performance tires for the 97 SSEi. I garage it in the winter so all seasons are kinda pointless. Its for summer driving and maybe the 1 or 2 times I plan to take it to autocross for the year (contingent on me completing other mods first, dont want to be barely better ...

There are too many good ones to choose from. Methinks these cars should be nominated in the coming months, lots of them deserve a COTM.

Re: OIL PRESSURE ISSUE???
The oil gauge clusters are notoriously inaccurate, hence the need for mechanical confirmation.
I forget the spec, but the rule of thumb is either 5 or 10 PSI per 1,000 engine RPM.
I had a Series 1 3800 with 242,000 where the oil pressure gauge had exactly the same behavior as yours, and the car ...

Have you tried looking at the schematics at gmpartseast.com? That's my usual go-to for finding parts.

1997 SSEi Performance Upgrades Questions - What should I do?
For my 1997 SSEi, current mods is high-flow cat and CAI and a basic tune via me messing around with HP Tuners. Last year in the fall I bought but didnt have a chance to install a N* TB and a Gen V supercharger along with a 3.5 MPS pulley. Would I be able to support this or are there other mods id ...

Ill keep a close eye on the UIM, it really does not look that bad. Its practically still new. Definitely something to do in the future though.

Re: So it begins, Mr 3800
Ok so I kinda panicked thinking I had the milkshake nightmare which was NOT the case. But my overflow was still empty after only a month, and the new-ish looking gaskets still had a failure. Molding stamp on the UIM was from 2008, so thats probably around when it was last done, and it still looks ...

Re: So it begins, Mr 3800
My coolant overflow bottle is empty. It was flushed a month ago.
Ok, the oil doesnt look milkshake-y and I still have coolant in the radiator. Im starting to wonder if Ive overreacted a bit and that is just external moisture.

The last time I had a good look at it, it SEEMS that the glass can be separate from the whole assembly. Look for screws on the inside of the rim.

Re: Can a brother get a picture...
Narrow edge down.
I've never heard of people not using a housing gasket, unless they use gasket maker. I cant see how the gasket squishes, it should be flush on the manifold, which is where the second gasket for the housing comes in. The gasket is a mere ~$1.20 at your local parts store. Better be ...

Re: Heater Hose Adapter leaking
They are sloppy-loose and leak for sure, you can see it streaming down when the engine is running. Even though I had replaced the o-rings on both of them before re-assembly.
And of course after I had posted this, I managed to FINALLY find them:

Heater Hose Adapter leaking
I recently replaced the accessory belt tensioner on the 97, and since then it is leaking like a sonovabitch at the heater hose adapter. I'm surprised at the design because it went in really loose, and had a hell of a time pulling it out of the old tensioner. I'm suspecting I should just get a new ...

Re: GM cars could have been completely bulletproof!!
You make very good points in terms of cost/risk. However I cant help but wonder if a few extra dollars would have been worth investing in customer loyalty. I look at the coolant elbows, I look at the plastic intake and LIM gaskets, I look at the pig iron that makes up the body and I wonder wouldn't ...

I'm in the market for a reasonably priced paint spray gun, was wondering what you guys use. I'm not looking to paint the whole car in one shot but a panel at a time. I also know my pancake compressor will not be up to the task, so ill either have to do it at my dads tool & die shop or find a ...

Re: LeBra covers...good, bad, or just ugly?
I had a LeBra on my 97 after I got a new hood and bumper, regretted the *shoot* that I had installed it to begin with. Junk got inside and etched the clearcoat off. Had to buff my new hood since it also managed to etch its own logo into the clearcoat.
Go with the 3M clearbra or dont do it at all.
