Transmission compatibilities

Would a series 1 4T60HD tranny from a 92 car bolt to a series 2 engine (from a 2000 car)?

Also would a series 1 4T60HD tranny from a 92 car fit in a non-supercharged 96 car?

Thanks guys.

Starting issue

I went to start the car today and while having the key pressed on and applying pressure to turn the starter, every relay in the dash it sounded like would keep clicking on and off. The starter would not turn. If I forced the lights off (thought it was the battery) then you could hear the relay for ...

Re: Review: Cheap Chinese fuel gauge sender install.

I had the Spectra one and it failed to vent properly. As a result it expended and contracted my brand new tank and caused it to flex too much and put a hole in it. Extremely pissed over the cheapo thing. You could literally hear the tank pop back into place when you took the gas cap off.

Re: 92 SSEi will not turn over

I had a 3/32 drill bit and it was slightly too long as it was hitting a heat shield while I was trying to put it into the service slot. I cut the drill bit and tapered it a bit just in case. An hour later and I still did not feel it slide into a service slot as I rotated the switch. So I said screw ...

Re: 92 SSEi will not turn over

Well I must be missing something here. I did all the steps you posted Will and I can not find the switch anywhere. I have the service manual. I know what it is suppose to look like but I do not see it. Am I suppose to take more things off to be able to get to this switch?

Edit: Nvm im thinking I am ...

Thank you very much! Is the adjustment procedure rather long?

Re: 92 SSEi will not turn over

Thank you all for your help. I have one final question and I would consider this fixed. I wiggled the shifter and the car started. Later on I tried again and it wouldn't. I wiggled the shifter and it started.

Neutral safety switch. What gets me is how I can have 12V on the purple wire yet the ...

Re: 92 SSEi will not turn over

Heading to work. I will work more on this once I am back.

Bill, you stated to confirm power to the solenoid and starter. I have confirmed the purple wire to the solenoid. There are two other wires. Looks like a ground(?) and one going to the starter itself. Will checking these tell us anything? If ...

Re: 92 SSEi will not turn over

Possible that the mating surface of the purple wire and the solenoid contact is corroded and preventing a connection?

Where would I check for the bad ground to the engine? Any specific wire at least...

Re: 92 SSEi will not turn over

I do not have a buddy atm so I had to make do with what I could.

1. Cleaned with steel wool and Aerosolve the battery connections at the battery terminals and reassembled. No go.

2. Fully recharged battery. No go.

3. 13-14 volts at battery without trying to start. Couldn't try it with trying to ...

92 SSEi will not turn over

I have about a 2 year old gear reduced starter. Been working perfectly for those two years. Now when I go to start the car it will not turn over. The security light goes out. None of my lights, including the headlights even dim when I go to start the car. I do not hear anything *click* when I go to ...

Brake issue - only right rear works

Hey all I just picked up another 92 SSEi. The car runs fine but it has a break issue. A brake line rusted away and the previous owner had to replace it. The line he replaced went to the ABS control unit in the engine bay. After bleeding the breaks MANY times the brake pedal is extremely hard.

The ...

Engine codes

I have been having intermittent engine codes:
13 - Oxygen Sensor Circuit ( Open Circuit )
55 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Fault ( EGR Solenoid # 3 )

First #13 and I left it alone. I decided to check it again and now got a new code #55 along with #13. The SES light will come on and go off. I figured ...

Gauge cluster

I think my cluster just finally died. The three right gauges oil, temp, and boost have been flaky for months now. They are all inaccurate although I boost fine, the car gets hot, and I have oil pressure. The gas gauge although it is normal for it to fluctuate is acting up now as well. The digital ...

Re: air compresser

You turned it on to get air so that you can use it for accessories. The compressor running doesn't mean its air is being directed to the rear struts, I am sure those ports are blocked and opened only when the strut level is sensed to be too low.

Re: Air ride rear struts

Alright thanks guys. I got the air compressor to kick on today. So it will be repaired properly. If the compressor kicks on manually but does not kick on to pump the struts, what could be the issue? The old struts are fine and the car is level front and back. I am just curious and would like to know ...
