I think my cluster just finally died. The three right gauges oil, temp, and boost have been flaky for months now. They are all inaccurate although I boost fine, the car gets hot, and I have oil pressure. The gas gauge although it is normal for it to fluctuate is acting up now as well. The digital display will randomly ding "Light Monitor" with no indication of a light. I have checked several times while it is on for a burnt light bulb and nothing. Yes I checked the two license plate bulbs. That Light Monitor is intermittent.
Now today the cluster shut itself off, just the cluster. I did not lose power. the car stayed running just fine and my music didn't miss a beat while it did this. If I turned the headlights on manually the cluster would shut off and make the gauges go through their tests again. At this time the oil gauge is forced to 0 and the temp gauge is pegged. The boost gauge idles at about -5 and you have to floor it to get it to move. However when it does begin to move it pegs itself. Obviously inaccurate. Now its been going back and forth between only having the RPM, Speedometer and boost gauge working (inaccurately for the boost gauge). During this time "Light Monitor" stays up on the display.
So what do you think do I need to locate a gauge cluster for a '92 SSEi? Possibly the two grounds underneath the carpet on the driver and passenger sides?
