Re: 1986 H-body L67 S2 swap
So I finally gave up trying to get my stock engine (3.8l vin 3) to work properly after a weekend on the dyno. I'm getting 100hp peak @ 4500 rpm with a steady drop to 65hp at redline of 5400rpm. Torque peaks at 150lb*ft at 3500 RPM. By the numbers I have 2/3 the power and 2/3 the gas mileage it has ...

Re: knock on 93
Check crank pulley first for rubber tearing.
Cracked Exhaust manifolds are a possibility.
Depending on miles maybe timing chain slap.

Re: Does this seem resonable?
Well it sounds like most of the money is going into the motor/trans and wheels and tires. So he could take it with him should he want a different car. Should he get tired of FWD he could swap the motor into a Camaro or Motor/trans into a Fiero.

haha did you get the E-Type coils? The stock ones are junk. If you bought stock replacements expect to go through more. When they fail they dont give any warning.

Re: Tire recommendation?
Throwing far too sticky tires on the front and having crap in the rear is a recipe for disaster, whether it's oversteer in an emergency manouver, or wet/snowy conditions. For this reason, you need to have your new tires on the rear, always . I'm feeling the Kumho Solus KR21:

You can use Cola and aluminum foil to clean them. Its what I use on my tips.
Crumple up the foil pretty good then uncrumple it to its something comfortable to rub with. Pour some Cola on tip and start cleaning.

215/65/15 would be a fine size. You could also run some 225/60/15. If you go to 16" you can go 225/60/16, 235/55/16, 245/50/16. I have run all of those sizes on my car.

Re: Crank Position Sensor
When I replaced mine I held the sensor by hand so that the Blades on balancer were even between the sensor and I had my brother tighten it in place. worked great. I have heard of some people using paper to space it correctly also.

Re: EGR block-off
I was wondering if your modeling was only accounting for the effect of the EGR gas temp on the air temp in the intake or if it accounted for the heat soak in the charger where the EGR enters the air flow that would also heat up the air.

Some H-Bodies dont come from the factory with an STB :( Mine have them now though. You can take if off if you like. But id put it on before you start driving. They really stiffen up the front end.

Good to know. Since I have an SSEi I guess I have the biggest bar already...lol. Thanks
There is the Addco rear bar. There isn't much experience with it, so I don't know how much better it is than the SSEi bar.
It doesnt just get rid of factory understeer it starts inducing oversteer. I wouldnt ...
