Re: The buick seems to be taking on water...
Ditto on the passenger side fenderwell. Sealed mine up last year and finally dried up the trunk. There was a good write-up on this - maybe a year ago. Most people use steel of some kind (even an old license plate, if I remember right), I used fiberglass. Take the trim panel out on the passenger side ...

Re: Body work and paint for 94?
Probably more money than you expect. I just got quotes from three different shops to replace and repaint my left rear door and they were all within $100 of each other. To do the job "right", they need to blend the door into the adjacent panels - $1475.00. To paint just the door was $975.00. Of ...

Early '90s Buick door interchangability...?
A couple of weeks ago another driver backed into my 1993 LeSabre while it was parked. The damage was all confined to the left rear door. I've received estimates to repair this (which he has agreed to pay), but I'm trying to save a little money by replacing the door myself before I take it for paint ...

Re: Heater fan Motor
Another possibility on intermittant heater fans is the connector itself. Last summer (on one of the hottest days!), the fan in my LeSabre stopped working. I have the dual climate control and I wasn't sure if the problem was the fan or the control module. I unhooked the connector and jumpered 12V to ...

Were those hydro dams owned by TVA? The company I work for performs fire protection work in industrial occupancies and a few years ago we did a bunch of the hydros for TVA. I've been to Wheeler, Wilson, Watts Bar and Kentucky Dam and co-workers visted several other sites. I got a little ...

Re: 92 sse stero aux input
Hey John Deere Boy, great write-up. I've got one question for you though -
How does the radio "know" that you are supplying an input on what used to be the cassette input? Does it look for a signal to go high and then switch to that input, shutting off the tuner section? I never dug into it, but I ...

I've got the Kumho Solus KR21 tires on our Hyundai Santa Fe. I know, not a real good comparison for you. I do like the tires though - great wet, dry, and snow traction and these things wear like iron.

Re: Vibration/rattle noise at low RPM
Sorry, haven't had time to look further. Got called out of town for a few days and have to fix the brakes on the wife's car when I return. I'll be looking for the noise again next week. I did have time enough to determine that it wasn't something simple like the cat shield...

Re: Vibration/rattle noise at low RPM
O.K., time for me to show my limited mechanical knowledge. Harmonic balancer - attached to the crank pulley, right? If so, how do I get access to see the rubber you're talking about?

Vibration/rattle noise at low RPM
Having trouble finding the source of a noise at low RPMs. When the car is in gear (drive or reverse, makes no difference) and I'm stopped, the engine rpm is brought down below the normal idle of park or neutral. Somewhere just below 1000rpm I hear and feel a slight vibration and low frequency rattle ...

Re: Fixing a Rust Hole (Patched on 1/18/09!)
I just performed a similar repair on my LeSabre this weekend. However, I used fiberglass instead. I had the same rustout in front of that structural-looking piece, but also a larger hole behind it in the trunk. After removing the seat and all the trunk trim I sanded/wire-brushed to remove as much ...

Re: New LeSabre owner
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Trust me, the car looks better in pictures than in person, but I'll be working on that as time and money permits. Yeah, I probably will turn the whitewalls in. It's hard to keep the front ones clean for any length of time. Not sure what kind of pads are on there ...

Where are you able to find cans of dark cherry metallic? I've looked at Autozone, Advanced Auto and Wal-mart but can't even find the touch-up paint let alone spray cans. Thanks!harofreak00 wrote:I picked up 3 - 5oz cans of Dark Cherry Metallic to paint the rocker when its done.

Sweet! That was one of my first purchases when I got my LeSabre. BTDT with the Haynes and Chiltons manuals that don't have all the information you need - or incorrect info. I screwed up when I bought my manuals though, I didn't realize there was a separate manual for electrical (ESM). Took awhile ...

Re: Engine Oil: Synthetic, Blend, or Crude?
Y'all are going to disown me, but I've been using the SuperTech filter from Wal-Mart. Supposedly it's made by Champion Labs and the price is right! I use the SuperTech High-Mileage conventional oil, 10W-30. Now in the wife's (newer) SUV, I use the SuperTech full synthetic. At around $16.00 for a 5 ...

Re: New LeSabre owner
I have been curious. With the full cluster, are the warning lights in the cluster, or in the translucent strip on the dash?
A little of both actually. Right above each gauge there is a single red led that lights up if you are above (or below) "normal". However, I also have the full compliment of ...

Full cluster.
If I'm not mistaken, that color is called Dark Cherry Metallic. Is your interior red as well? I didn't care for the red interior at first, but it is growing on me.

Clear coat repair?
Hello all, new to the forum. I posted more about me and my car over in the "Introductions for New Members" section. My 1993 LeSabre has a few areas where I assume the clear coat has pitted or is peeling in some fashion. When the car is dry it looks bad. However, when the car is wet, you can't hardly ...
