Re: The "New" Van
We're planning on signing the papers today. What don't you like about it?
These vans have been prone to having transmission problems. My brand new van with 6000 miles on it would "jerk" out of reverse when shifted to drive. I just had the transmission relearned, and it seems to be better now. But ...

Did you already buy the 2014? We bought a 2013 T&C brand new around this time last year to replace our 2005. It's been a bittersweet experience.

Congrats on the van, Andrew! We have a 2005 T&C LX. About 70K miles on it, bought it with 24k miles back in '06 for $18K
Since purchasing it, for repairs, we had a PCV replaced under warranty (free), had to repair a lock solenoid ($8 - fixed it myself), and a new turn signal stalk ($37). So, yeah ...

Those early IS cars looked too much like Corollas to me, no offense.
Better keep an eye on that 3.0L V6. Two words: engine sludge.

Looks like you made up your mind to keep (a VERY good choice by the way to keep that car). But just in case...
To be honest, about the '00+, I can deal with their quirks, but some people can't. I feel the '92-'99 was a much better car, if you're looking to "upgrade" in a sense maybe an '00+ isn't ...

This thread for the most part is confirming all along what I thought of the 00+ versus the 92-99.
Mentioned before the last time that this was discussed a few years ago how much I missed my '95 after buying the '04. At the time, I think some folks thought I was nuts!

Too much! Don't pay that much for the car. He's making a KILLING on it at that price. He paid maybe $6000 for it at auction, if that much. It's a buyers market... don't believe a word he says, his job is to sell cars. He will say he's got x number of dollars into it blah blah blah.. you hold the ...

I have made the decision to list it for sale. I'm gonna start high, like $7k, if it sells, I make bank, if it doesn't, I have a good work truck.

Re: thank you indiana state police.
I was reading an article on MSN the other day about how we'll see more speeding tickets during the recession. Enforcing speed limits is lucrative business.
I got a ticket the other day. No need to take points on your license: hire a lawyer. That's what I did

Running the original in my '04. Car struggles a little in the cold to start, but that may be a function of it being cold out. So it should be good for a little while yet.
