Almost Paidoff :) Winter 2013/14 Plans

Chat about all things Bonneville (and related cars). Off-topic stuff should be in the lounge, and all mechanical problems should be posted in the proper forum.

Almost Paidoff :) Winter 2013/14 Plans

So September will officially be my last payment on the Bonneville and I'll be picking up a second job in the next couple weeks. As soon as it's paid off I'm buying a winter beater & the Bonneville will be moving into the garage for the winter :) My cousin recently had her lower ball joint go out while she was driving her 97 Grand Prix GTP - and it's not really worth getting it back on the road so I'm buying it and parting it out. I'm seriously considering pulling the motor so I have one to start rebuilding for the day mine decides it's time is up!

Performance 2013/14 plans
-High Performance Coil Pack
-Intense Stage 2 Performance Package
-3" Downpipe & High Flow Cat (keeping resonator)
-Intense Shift Kit
-Front & Rear Suspension Overhaul (Replacing just about everything)
-Front Strut Tower Brace Install
-Aluminum Coolant Elbows
-180 Degree T-Stat

Body & Exterior
-Resurface Window Trim
-Tint Windows (35% front & 25% rear)
-GXP Taillights
-New Fog Lamps
-Replace Fuel Filler Neck
-Rustproof Underbody

Interior
-Repair Headliner & Sunroof Cover
-Repair Burnt Switch Bulbs
-Find & Fix Any Water Leaks
-Remove Spare Tire & Jack - 6x9 Delete
-Eventually Replace Front Seat Leather Covers
-Replace Console From 02+ Bonneville
-Install Single LED's in Front & Rear Console Cupholders

Body
-Car Will Be Getting Painted Once It's Close To Being Finished
-Factory Galaxy Silver, Black or Dark Gunmetal Metallic - I can't decide
-New Metal Around Fuel Door
-Pinstripe
-GXP Rear Spoiler

I'm sure some of this stuff will change as this project goes on but as of now - this is my rough draft of what I'd like to see when it's finished. Don't think i'll be using this car as my daily driver for awhile so with me working two jobs I'll finally be able to afford to start this project!

As I tell everyone, there isn't a need for the MSD coils. They were actually designed for the L36 firebird. Your coils are just as powerful.

You're also much further ahead doing headers over the downpipe. Same $$$, more power.
Bye Bye:

Good to know, I'll remember that! I'm occasionally having a misfire always on the same cylinder so i'll be replacing the coil pack in the next couple weeks anyways.

I had plans on doing headers as well, I just havn't mapped out what all I'd like to do when I acquire a spare motor & rebuild it - thats not my area of expertise so I'm trying not to think about it till the time comes. My car has 186K on it now and the entire exhaust system hasn't been touched since it left the factory so would it be to my benefit if I went for the 3" downpipe rather than just buying another used one? Since the car obviously won't be my daily driver after it's all said & finished, what would I expect for a lifespan on the headers? Dad seems to think that driving & parking the car often would cause rust and whatnot - and like I said I'm NO EXPERT when it comes to these things lol
