Fuel Filter STUCK
When I first got this car running over a year ago I when to change the fuel filter. But with all my attempts it never broke loose. I am getting all the parts together for a tune up and really want to get the fuel filter changed this time. Here is a list of what i have tried.
I soaked it with brake free (over night)
Tried to brace it and hit it
Multiple wrenches
My new plan is to get flare nut wrenches and try that. I would like to heat it up red hot and try that, but something about that seams wrong (not sure why) . If you have any other tricks let me know. This thing is rusted solid.

Re: Fuel Filter STUCK
ALWAYS had luck with 2 large vice grips.
Ya, don't use heat.

Keep hitting it with PB blaster.
I am certainly loving the C-Body fuel filter configuration right about now

Re: Fuel Filter STUCK
Please, only use the flare wrences if possible. Every other type of wrench will only round the nut off. Last time I did the fuel filter it had quick-release for both sides of the filter, but mine is a 1993.

Re: Fuel Filter STUCK
Try some CRC Freeze-Off. It freezes the joint to break the rust bond so you can get it. I'll be seeing about that claim in a few weekends.

Re: Fuel Filter STUCK
Or if you want it off now, use acetone and fresh ATF in a windex or similar bottle and use that. I've seen independent tests that say it takes 4x less torque on a rusted nut than PB Blaster. Like LeSabre in Buffalo, I have yet to try the claim.

Yeah, half and half. Forgot to mention that, lol. Shake it up real well, and don't get it in your eyes, lol.

Re: Fuel Filter STUCK
The Freeze-Off worked too well. It broke free the junk holding the fitting to the filter, and I'm leaking gas. Off to the parts store for the Dorman repair kit and a tubing bender.
BTW, compression fittings are legal in NY, as per my reading of what they inspect. They don't care if it's held together by black magic if it's not leaking/dripping/puddling.

Re: Fuel Filter STUCK
I tried CRC Freeze-Off, but i broke the line right befor the filter. When to NAPA and they had a repair kit just for that problem. Thanks for the input guys
