VERY new to gm cars (most of my cars were foriegn) car is a little sick right now and no one i know has a clue how to help me get it running properly so i'm trying to learn something here. besides of the tranny, heads, OBD 2 and supercharger are there any other changes between supercharged l67 series 1 and series 2 engines? i believe i have a bad supercharger and thought about trying the series 2 supercharger.

Re: saying hello
Supercharger rattling is probably the coupler. That requires taking the S/C apart, which can be a little tricky. It may also be the cause of your surge. I'd replace that and see where it takes you.

Re: saying hello
There are a couple ways to diagnose where the rattling in the supercharger is coming from. If the pulley has rotational play in it, the coupler is bad. If you can wiggle the pulley at all up/down/left/right, the nosedrive bearings need replaced.
For the most part, supercharger rattling issues won't cause any drivability problems until the failing part completely dies and the supercharger stops spinning. Please post in 92-99 with a description of the surge you are getting. We've got great gearheads that may not see this being in the Intro section.
