Remove and Replace headlights

Post by billberry12 »

I have bought a new set of headlights for my 2001 bonneville SE. Does someone have a simple set of instructions and how to remove and replace them? Is there a diagram somewhere? I hate to mess up trying to do it myself. Any idea how much a shop would charge me to do this?
Thanks for you help.

its easy, two bolts each. use a 10mm socket. after the screws are out grab hold of the HL and pull straight out.
in doing so on the outside edge you will feel it holding on to something. its a socket with a ball joint.
give it a good yank.

edit: pics and more info found in this thread. http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... =14&t=5512
in the first picture of the HL you will see where the two bolts have been removed.

Anyone know where I can buy just the clear lense's for the headlights, instead of the whole unit, to save money.

Thanks,
Bill

Nobody sells them like that. You have to buy the entire assembly from GM.

You can clear the lens yourself. Does somebody have the link on how to do this? I did it myself on my 2000 ssei. Once you get the light assembly out you just have to remove the housing from the lens (being careful about the seal) then you just have to remove the amber lens that is inside. Someone should have the link for this. Sorry I don't.

he is looking to replace his headlights, not clear the corners.
