Any brake pads that don't create alot of dust?!?

Post by RyVa11 »

Everytime I clean my car real good the front wheels will be black within the week. And you all know how hard it is to begin with to clean the mesh golds. I have tried Oreilly's and AutoZone's. Before I try Napa's does anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe try Wagner ceramic pads? I think the ceramics create less dust.

We've got Wagner ceramics on the Grand Am. They make some dust, but not much.

I've had Midas ceramic and now Raybestos Quiet Stop ceramic now and I never saw/see any dust to speak of.

I put ceramic pads on last month and haven't noticed any decrease in dust at all. Not sure what brand they are but I'm not impressed with them.

I have ceramics on it now from AutoZone. The ones I bought from Oreilly's were Semi-Metallic.

They may not be ceramic then, can't remember it's been awhile. Well I will be replacing them with ceramics and see if that will help.

I just put Wagner Edge on the 98 bonneville and after a short break in period there is hardly any dust on the rims, and they grab real nice too. I should say they are a ceramic pad too so you will need good quality rotors other wise they will get thinned out quicker than usual. I use the Wagner discs too, domestic made good stuff.

I have Wagner Thermal Quiets on the 91 LeSabre. They were what was the new thing a couple years back when I did this car. Upon closer visual inspection they are like the same thing only not laser cut as are the Edge pads. Also are a ceramic. Never had a dust problem.

Any pad that has organic material will dust. If you look at a lot of the brand new fords and stuff you see crazy black rims. Organic pads :> Semi metallic is ok, but they dust up a bit too.

Funny side thinggy... on my mountain bike it has disc brakes and the factory ones were organic. They made so much dust it wasnt funny and were down to nadda in like two weeks. I swapped to some ceramic pads and that was 2yrs ago, no dust and they still are 50%. And I do a lot of downhill as the ski hill here allows mountain bikes in the summer... even let ya hook your bike onto the chair lift.
