New 2001 SSEi, Upgrade List - What am I missing

I just got my 4th Bonneville and looking at getting a little more performance out of her.

The goals are
1. MORE POWER
2. Make it breathe better
3. Not affect the reliability or improve it
4. Budget is not a really problem

This is what I came up with as a good start, but I don’t what to over look anything.

Intense Level 1 Performance Package
AeroForce Interceptor Scan Gauge
MSD Ignition Coils
MSD Plug Wires
Fuel Filter
Optima Battery (red top)
GXP strut-bar
Rear strut-bar - custom?
energy suspension end links F/R
Magnaflow catalytic converter

Should be coming home to the states soon, after 6 years over seas, so want to get this together in the next month or two. Any input is welcome.

get a smaller pulley. that may effect some reliability but get nice gains out of it.

The level 1 package includes an MPS with a 3.4".


Ditch the MSD coils and wires. They won't gain you much over what you have. Not worth the time or money unless you have a bad coil.

Toss a downpipe on that list, it's a good insurance policy against KR on lightly modded motors.

you cannot run a Optima with a 00+

there is no need for a rear strut bar made for the 00+'s

Budget not a problem? SLP headers? That would make it an easier switch to the 3.4" pulley due to possible KR issues. That's the only thing that's keeping me from putting my 3.4" on.

A hogan 3" downpipe might just do it for you on stock exhaust manifolds.

I was going to hold off on the exhaust (exept the cat) until get the Intense Stage 1X 3800 Cam Package or the Stage 2 3800 Heads & Cam Package. But if a 3" downpipe is a good way to go then i will add it to the list. As for the MSD coils and wires I want them for appearance. Thanks for the great input guys, keep it coming.

As for the budget I have a bunch of my ex-wife’s stuff that will be going on ebay.

Nothing like sticking it to the ex!

It hurts reliability if not used properly or allot, but if you want the occasional burst of power, could stick a small shot of nitrous in it.

Or another way to add a larger pulley, alcohol injection. Devils own has some nice kits

If i got the Hogan Performance H-Body 3" Stainless Steel Downpipe with Hi Flow Catalytic Converter, i should be able to reuse it with what ever headers i get. Right? Of cource there will be welding, but i have that covered.

Remember to have the cat code programmed out on the pcm or that magnaflow will probably set a low efficiency code. For some reason the 00+'s suffer from this and the pre 2000's don't.

you will not be able to use the DP when you get headers

So would I be better off waiting or is it worth it in the mean time to get the downpine and cat togethe, or should I just get the cat for now.
