Porting an LIM

Here's one for you L36 guys (or L67 guys that know how to port...). How do you port a LIM? I'm getting one from the junkyard and I'm going to be working on it next week. I've set aside about a total of 7 hours for it. People have told me it will take anywhere from 6 to 8 hours for first timers. What's the best way to do it? I'll be using a dremmel...

I am also going to port a LIM for my car in the coming weeks so ill be following along
1996 SE w/ magnaflow high flow cat, 180* Drilled T-Stat, intense FWI, PLIM, ER Rockers w/stock springs, 1 5/8ths primary pacesetter headers

port matching is more important then porting fwiw least imo from my experience and everything i've read...

any write up you see without that is just inviting more turbulence into your intake manifold then is already there. I have no doubt Will will(ha!) address this as i know he's very knowledgeable relating to performance modifications, especially relating to 3800s. i just thought i'd throw that out there for those whom don't know about it. also turbulence = bad. while basic porting may show some gains w/o port matching, it being port matched is the #1 thing you want to be concerned with and they will also net the most gains when done together correctly.

also don't polish the inside. it's a common misconception from everything i'v read about laminar flow...

edit: if you somehow manage to port through your intake runner, which means you've gone WAY WAY to far into the runner's wall, jb weld will fix it up fine. thought it might not look so great from the outside.

i'm also excited to see willwren's follow-along LIM porting because i just bought a LIM for an L36 from a buddy of mine for a case of beer in return!! (what a DEAL!!) :banana:

Guys, wait for Bill's post. The links above show gasket matching, not true port matching. You don't want to port to the gasket opening. It will be to large.
1999 SSE. 112k, Cleared Corners, Mobile 1, Energy Suspension endlinks. Ported and Polished LIM, NGK TR-55 Sparkplugs, 180 drilled Intense stat, Flow matched injectors, Intense FWI, Intense PCM, MagnaFlow Cat.
