Next Car After The Bonneville

Post by 300sflyer »

Hey guys,

I'm considering selling my 04 GXP, and looking at something newer. Its too bad there are no more Bonnevilles to choose from...

I like the sports sedan look and feel, and am thinking about an AWD 2009-2012 Cadillac CTS. Looks like the engine options are the 3.6 or the 3.0. Can anyone make any recommendations, or point out anything specific to watch out for?

Thanks!

G8 or SS.

No interest in a CTS here, unless it has "-V" after it.

CTS-V might be out of the budget depending on the generation. First gens are also only available in stick, which isn't a problem for me but... lol

Not sure if the 3.6s in the CTS of that vintage has the timing chain issues?

Average wear/mileage 1st Gen CTS-V's are holding their value absurdly well for a ~14 something year old car. Most are still hovering in the mid to upper teens, some in the low 20's if lower mileage.

Then you get the 100k+ ridden hard and put away wet versions for $11k... :)

304HP with the CTS is plenty of power.... My wife wouldn't know what to do with 400+ HP in the CTS-V!

My research tells me there may have been. It also tells me that oil changes may not have been done often enough, and oil levels kept full on the dipstick between changes.

Absolutely. However the CTS is already more HP, and quicker than the GXP. I'm satisfied with that.

My wife would. She'd blow the doors off the paper boy on his bicycle, drive around the block to taunt him a second time, then brag about it on facebook.

I feel like most people driving even the most normal of cars aren't aware that you can press the gas pedal down more than 25% anyways.

Out here in the western suburbs, everyone drives like it's the Indy 500, so people seem to know what to do with power. Whether they can handle it is another issue. Had a *dang* Prius put the spurs to his eco-crapbox against me in the RGC last night. He got around me, but I wasn't trying either. I never went over 3k.
