I have a 98 SE, 285k miles, still runs great. But, evap vent valve and purge solenoid codes are coming up.
I've replaced both, reset computer. Still coming up.
Also p0135 upstream O2 sensor preheater code. Replaced. Still coming up.
Anyone know what voltage and when, I should find at vent valve and purge solenoid connectors?
I have ground on red wires on both. Nothing (0.06V) on white wire at vent valve connector, same on green wire at purge solenoid, when i turn key on, or start.
I'm at a loss. Need *dang* emissions sticker.
Connectors are clean, and look good.
What am I missing?
(Recently replaced: Intake gaskets, upper plastic part of the intake, of course, BOTH O2 sensors, purge solenoid at top front of engine, Evap vent valve below PCM, Power steering rack, battery and cables, fuel pump and sender, fuel filter, pugs and wires)
ANY knowledgeable assistance is appreciated.
My wife loves this car, so do I. We keep it maintained. I want to see her break 300k...

Look at the wiring. Our Sport trac had the gas cap light come on intermittently and then the evap code for low input. I had previously planned to replace the vent solenoid since they do wear out, but ended up finding corroded wires in the engine compartment . Repaired the electrical connection and it's been fine since. Physically feel the wires. All it takes is for some idiot to probe it once with a piercing tool and not seal it back up and it can corrode.
A temporary fix does not exist. It becomes a solution until it needs to be fixed again.

Thanks, I've been over the wires. Still can't find any issues. Curious tho. If a fuel cap could cause the same code, then a leak at the tank could also?

There are several pieces of rubber hose connecting the purge lines in varies locations. check for holes or splits in hose. I had a problem with the one at the firewall under a hose hold down build into the wheel well. Just rotted away.
