What is symtoms of a bad fuel regulator? Sometime when I start my car it acts as if it's going to stall but catches it self and when I'm idling the rpms lower then raise no lower then half a grand and no higher the 1 grand. Sometimes it's hard to start until I press the gas.idont want to keep adding money and not fix the problem

Re: Need help
Often a bad fuel pressure regulator will cause hard starting. Pull the vacuum hose and check for a fuel odor in the hose. That would indicate a leaking diaphragm. It sounds as if your throttle body and idle air control valve could use a good cleaning.

Re: Need help
It's attached to the side of the FPR.
You could also check the fuel pressure, with the engine running. When you remove the vacuum line, the pressure should go up.

Re: Need help
The throttle body and stuff is all cleaned as it still does it. I had the starter, alternator and battery tested and they all came back good

Re: Need help
mine was doing the exact same thing. i thought was the crankshaft position sensor but that wasn;t the case. after i cleaned the idle air control it fixed the issue.
but ive read on here that the CPS gives simaler symptoms. its a semi cheap part but it involves pulling off the harmonic balancer

Re: Need help
Did you also clean the IAC really well? Try removing it again, and pushing the pintle in some. Reinstall it, turn the ignition on and off, and then start. Did that help any? Have you tried it with the MAF disconnected?
