92/93 L67 swap into 94/95 L67 car

Post by olblueeyesbonne »

I have a customer wanting an engine for a 95 L67 car and I have a line on a couple 92/93 L67.

I know I will have to swap the supercharger/TB off the 95, but are there any other reasons I can't use the 92/93 engine?
What else would have to be swapped to work in the 95?
In my research I read something about the crank sensor being different on a 92 -will the 95 crank sensor and Harmonic Balancer bolt right in place and function properly?

Thanks in advance.

1994 has different rockers. So just swap the rockers and the supercharger and you should be good to go.

I did same thing on my 1994 and it was very easy. Just make sure to use exhaust and wiring from 1994 as I think there were a couple differences there too.

Swap the crank sensor, HB will be fine to use though. Not sure if the 95 L67 has a front knock sensor, but a 92 block might not have the boss for it. A 92/93 L67 won't have that same rocker stud size as 94/95, but a 93 will have roller fulcrums like a 94/95. You'll want the 95's front exhaust manifold for the proper egr tube port. Use the 95's injectors and fpr.

I think the only show stopper would be if the 95 needs a front knock sensor and you get a 92 with no front mounting boss.

IIRC 94/95 L67 still just had one knock sensor. Whether it's front or rear doesn't really matter. The frequency range the sensors are designed to pick up is a function of the hub bore.

Correct -the knock sensor is in an oil passage directly above the oil filter adapter/oil pressure sending unit.
Dropped a 94 Park Ultra L67 in and just have to put the belts on, the new exhaust flange donut and should have it running within the hour.
