Well the 88 needs a new drivers seat so i got these..
And while i'm at it the carpet is getting pulled and washed and I need to figure out why my sub doesn't turn on anymore.
Seats out and very dirty floor
Not related but I saw this in my shed today and had totally forgot I had it
LS4 from my friends GP GXP....this one seized because he didn't get it tuned soon enough after we put different lifters in to remove DoD. Still need to tear it apart to be sure of cause then rebuild it for a sandrail :D....thats a winter project though

Are those seats teal or black? If they're black and in that good a shape I'll be jealous!

They are teal actually, not the exact color i wanted but they were the best ones at the yard and I want the 88 drivable again. I Would love black, but I think they will look alright since I don't have the stock gray interior anymore.
The drivers seat is a bit worn, but not torn anywhere I just need to clean and condition really well, the back of the back seat has one tear otherwise It's really good.

But seriously for now it doesn't matter to me. the car looks like crap on the outside and the other option was a single red seat from an 88 that was pretty rough. Eventually I will probably get them recovered, but this way I can drive it and get rear cupholders.

Got the trim and carpet out for cleaning and my sister is helping with that right now. I have to run a wire that was installed with my alarm in the proper place. the audio shop that installed it just tucked it up under the trim and it has never stayed.
naughty wire
The new seats bolt up the same as the 88's did. The power plug is also the same between my 88 and the 97 SSE the seats came from.
My plug
Seat plug
These seatbelt clips aren't needed for the 88 since it has an independent mount.
This rivet and bolt come off and the bracket is free from the seat.
Thats all for now, next I have to run power for the passenger seat. I'm just going to splice off the drivers and make my own plug for it since I didn't think to cut the one out of the doner car.

Did that have a Teal pearlescent paint too? Thats what the car had but I wasn't sure if it was a stock color, It looked amazing though
Also I have learned that I am a fatass and have cracked the mounts for the seats.

That exact car is on eBay right now. 96, about 140-60k miles. I think it's in Iowa.

Anywho...I probably need to do this....2 years old or not, over 70k on my car probably means there's something to vacuum under there.

Looks good Zeik! Interesting about your buddy's motor. I take it you didn't remove the AFM solenoids and stuff too, and it destroyed the lifters when they lost oil?
Bye Bye: RIP sandrock
Sirius wrote:Think about it. You’re tooling down the road in your Prius, knowing full-well that this thing being green is as big a sham as federally mandated ethanol-enriched gas, Russia pulling out of Ukraine, and Obamacare.
Dean: I had mocked up the back seat yesterday to see what hooks my car uses and what to cut off but with the color mixing my car already has the teal looked really good. I was kinda suprised.
00Beast: I know with the motor He was the one who had done the research and had the plan layed out. We were removing DoD and putting on an Ls6 intake. I was over to help when I could so I wasn't involved with everything, but I never heard mention of AFM solenoids. What we believe happened was that the engine was trying to run in 4 cylinder mode and the non DoD lifters we put in didn't provide oil to the cylinders that were off. the day after we put It back together he called me and said it seized on his way to get it tuned. All is well now because he took it to a guy in town to put in a low milage SS impala motor that is now cammed, ported heads, LS6 intake, and a few other goodies. It makes 457 hp at the crank and 354 hp at the wheels now with a TEP transmission to hold up to the power.
Anyway back on topic, I think my next door neighbor will be able to help me weld the seat mount as he is a professional welder and has a MIG whereas I haven't welded much and have a stick that I have never used. for now though I'm off to get my amp tested and crossing my fingers that it isn't bad.

Good luck with the project. I'd say those seat mounts broke more of 20 years of wear than any one person's weight, lol.

I agree on the wear but about two years ago I had it apart to put in new carpet and they weren't broke then. It's probably a combination of age, me sitting all the way back, and when I get in I usually push back against the seat to adjust so I've just stressed the crap out of the mount. Should be easy to fix though and Im glad I caught it now before It really broke.

Well I finished up last night and it looks pretty good. I still need to adjust some things and do something different with the seatbelts but for now it is functional.
All was well till I started it an pulled it out of the garage, then the engine developed a knock...
