Oil Issues
OK my oil gauge is reading funny. usually it reads it the middle but when i accelerate is jumps all the way up . Then when i get off the gas it goes all the way down. Checked it the oil was low. added about three qrts then the problem occured again. Then when i get on the gas to about 45mph i feel the shaking right under my feet where the pedal is. What can be the problem? Oil Change? Oil Filter loose or something?

Re: Oil Issues
If you were really three quarts low on oil it could be a lot of things..... if the gauge is fluctuating the first place to check is the oil pressure sender. Start with an oil change and if it still persists look in to the sender.

Re: Oil Issues
If you replace the sender, use AC Delco ONLY.
Reading high is a typical indicator for a bad sender, but I agree about the oil level. Resolve that first and then see where you are.

Re: Oil Issues
They don't take much. I know I was trying to change the power steering pump on my 97 and the pump bumped the oil sensor and it fell right off.
Is there bottom part of the sensor still screwed in?
If it is missing I would get one ASAP. Personally I'd be afraid to drive the car with it missing.

Re: Oil Issues
You were probably spewing oil all over the place. Proof that you need to WATCH YOUR GAUGES.
You may have a broken piece in there that has to be removed. Find the harness and sensor (they should be attached still) and figure out what's left in the oil filter adapter housing.
DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL THIS IS REPAIRED.

Re: Oil Issues
At this point you should just change the oil completely and get a oil sender and put it in, then you will know for sure.
