Best $250 beater ever. (7 - 800x600 pix)

Post by Bonneville92V688 »

Was a nice day yesterday (62*), so I washed the Ciera. Since it was yet again a nice day (60*!), I took some pics this time... however it's not as clean as it was yesterday.

The beater in all her glory.

Only major rust on the car besides near the gas door. Driver's door is rotted at the bottom... not sure why. Underside and rockers are spotless.

Not bad...looks like a healthy beater =D>

My 97 SE was $250 as well @ 95,000 miles.

Get a nice set of rims and that car will look great

What you sayin, the Olds wheel covers with the white wall tires are where it's at; aerodynamic as well. Looks like a fine car you have there.

So Willie...the state of Ohio hasn't required you to hold a dealer's license yet?

:joke:

Clean beater. But how did the door rot out if the underside is spotless?

I'm not exactly sure why it is so bad. The other 3 doors have very minimal rust on the bottoms. But yeah, the car was undercoated new, and looks like new. Subframe mounts are solid and everything.

No dealer's license here... I haven't bought (Except this one, I put in $175 and my sister put in $75) or sold a car in 2 years. I guess it's mainly because I am getting sick of messing with cars, and just mess with my computers now... I've been building PCs privately on the side for a year now.

Betcha the previous owners kicked their snowy shoes against the bottom of the door instead of the rocker panel.

Notice how the rust is around the gas door and the spot on the rear door.

When I lived in town there in Ohio, I had a car rust on that side only due to the snow plows coming along and throwing the salty slop all over the cars when we had to park along the curb.

That's most likely why it's like that... the car lived in Lorain most of its' life, and was parked on the street when we bought it; in a neighborhood with no driveways.

You could also say we are the 2nd owners... the old lady we got it from got it when her mother died, and she never drove the car, but it was transferred in her name. In the state's eyes, we are the 3rd owners, but I say 2nd... All 87500 miles on it is from shopping, doctors, and bingo (literally).

I love those old A-Bodies so much I had 5! I've owned an 85 Ciera (carb 2.8), 86 Ciera wagon (2.8 FI), 87 Ciera (2.5), 86 Celebrity and 88 6000. That brings back alot of memories. Yours looks good except for the rust but parts are cheap and abundant. I'm sure you can score some cheap jy rims and spruce up the ol' girl!
