Pulled this home today for $900. Engine runs good, but the tranny doesn't work when it warms up, 202k.

Has the worst hood herpies I've ever seen, front bumper cover has paint flaking off, missing center caps, has a cracked SE rear bumper cover, interior is filthy.

I have a spare silver hood I'll put on it, I have an SSEi bumper cover, and I'll have the front and rear bumpers sprayed. I'll swap in a used trans. I'll probably have $400 in paint, $500 for the trans, and $200 for misc stuff, meaning I'll probably have 2k into it, hoping for a 2k profit.

Took me a while to dig it out before I could load it up.

Not a bad deal. Should come out $1G ahead easily even if you just put a trans @ front bumper cover on.

craiglist ad said it was an 03, so I was pretty disappointed to see it was only an 01.

Guy said he had over 30 calls, and 2 people called just while I was there. I was the first person that called thanks to my craigslist app on my phone.

Ok here she is in all her glory.

Image

damaged rear bumper cover
Image

nasty wheels
Image
Image

hood herpies
Image

cracked paint
Image

dirty interior...I should have taken pictures of everything I pulled out of the interior/trunk. There was so much stuff, you couldn't even see the seats or carpet. I filled my 55 gallon garbage bin half full.
Image
Image
Image
Image

202,836 miles
Image

good oil pressure
Image

cigarette ash everywhere, this is after I vacuumed... heated seats don't work.
Image

cracked console lid
Image

sagging visors and sunshade
Image

trunk after I cleaned out all the crap
Image

decently clean engine, runs good
Image
Image
Image

it was kinda nice out today, so I figured I'd get started on it. I pulled the wheels off to bring them inside to thaw them out. I'll clean and polish them once they get to room temp.
Image
Image
Image

also swapped the hoods already, I couldn't stand to look at hood herpies of that degree.
Image

the new hood isn't perfect, but much better on the eye.
Image

the hood/bumper gap will need to be adjusted when I have the front bumper cover off.
Image

I also ordered a transmission from MI this morning for $400 shipped. It has 124k and has a cracked side cover (easy to swap), hence the cheap price of $200 + $200 shipping. There were no trannys available locally, and the prices on the other ones were in the $600+ range. I think $400 shipped is a great price, and I'm already under budget.

Here is a basic to-do list.
Swap tranny
paint rear bumper cover
paint front bumper cover
find 3 center caps
swap back seat bottom
possibly swap front leather seat covers
find a good console lid
swap visors & sunshade
possibly swap front passenger doors as I have a good one, and this one has a kink in it
get some better tires on it, already lined up
swap driver rear window trim

If it was bad enough, it would be parted out... but I think it still has potential.

Found rear bumper cover in color for $300
Morad has one in color for $175 shipped: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT
But I need to see how much Mel can paint one that I have, I'm assuming it will be $200 like the other one. Hoping for a 2-fer-1 deal with the front cover...

Yes, the driver side taillight area is pushed in about 1/4 inch. I'll try to push it out once I get to the rear bumper.

Some just have more chipping away to be done than others. It's not the worst basketcase he's brought home though, and I'm sure this one will make another good graduate of "Haro's House of H-bodies".

I believe he did Mark. IIRC that was the one he had to repair the wiring under the seat after the windows didn't work when a gal came to test-drive it.

Put the wheels back on this morning in the middle of our rain.
