It can be anything. Get the cheapest stuff you can, there truly isn't a benefit in this area to spend more, its just hydraulic fluid with lubricants.

I used SuperTech recently with good results. It's a darn sight cheaper than anything else out there.

I see you're in Indiana. If there's a Tractor Supply Company you know of, they have some cheap Traveller-brand PS fluid. In fact, you could buy it by the bucket and have gallons on hand for those low PS fluid days. :)

Whats's the difference between Power Steering Fluid and Automatic Transmission Fluid?

Many (MANY) moons ago I was told to use ATF Fluid to top off the Power Steering Reservoir. Did the "ol family recipe" change for Power Steering Fluid over the years?

Sorry if I'm getting slightly off topic.

I've been told to use ATF to flush out motor oil. People have strange uses for ATF, but I don't put it into my PS fluid reservoir because nothing on it states a compatibility. I'm sure it would work because it's a liquid that can be pumped much like PS fluid. Unless there's really something cool about it, ATF in the PS fluid is just another old wives' tale.

Many old cars used transmission fluid as power steering fluids and until somewhere in the mid 80's it was ok to use atf in power steering. They sold ATF with power steering label. Now there seems to be a difference. I bought and returned prestone from walmart because it did not have the 1052884 compatible label. I got valvoline 1050017 which seems to be 1052884 in a larger size. The spec sheet from GM gives both numbers. I got a but scared when reading about disasters with valvoline but it seems to be all their synthetic blend, which they took off the market. I bought a white bottle that is listed on their web page http://www.valvoline.com/products/brand ... g-fluid/29

It is not synthetic. I will see how it works. My brother did top off this 93 Bonne with ATF but it is quiet. Not sure if I will go to one with the stop leak if it does leak.

All I said was to not dig up old old threads. Wasn't harsh. And getting a few posts? This isn't a game, we aren't trying to level up here.

Can we get this locked mods?
