Just painted OEM black. It looks so black in that pic because I had just sprayed it down with some brake cleaner.

Nah, optical illusion. Brakes haven't been used in months. Those "gouges" are not gouges at all, just scraping the surface rust. After I get it on the road they will look fine. The calipers moved very freely.

Wow. You work fast, and did you do that alone?

Sacrificing that Regal for that PAU was a great idea. PAU looks to be in TONS better shape.

Not yet. Only ran it for a few minutes, and nothing above idle. I hope it goes away after it starts being used.

Andrew gets it done fast but is not as fussy with the details as some of us because he's trying to make a profit on his flips whereas some of us have emotional attachments to our Bonne's and will spend more than it's worth to make it perfect.

Thats exactly right. Although its not like I'm slopping stuff together here.

I have a busy weekend planned, and the weather has gotten much colder (below freezing this morning) so I won't be working on the car for a while. The next thing is to pull the interior and then locate the broken parts and find replacements.

Its below freezing today, so I figured I would do some work inside. I tore into the ECC unit to have a look while it wasn't working.

I was confronted with 2 circuit boards. Here is the larger of the 2.
Image

These resistors got hot at one point and probably didn't work right.
Image

so I replaced all 4 of them.
Image

Unfortunately, this problem was worse than I thought. The heat had caused the printed copper on the circuit board to come off the board and tear in places.
Image

I had to complete the circuit, so this is what I came up with. I know its awfully ugly, but it works. By fixing this, I regained the display. Then there was the other circuit board, with the backlighting. I'm not sure why I didn't take a picture, but I replaced all the bulbs inside there.
Image

I also took apart the radio and replaced one bulb that was out. After messing with the radio while soldering, other bulbs started to go out, so I ended up replacing all 18 bulbs inside!!!
Image

Also replaced the display bulbs inside the passenger climate control.
Image
Image
Image

Also noticed that the driver power lock and memory seat switches are not lighting up, but they work. I have to remove the entire door panel to access them, so I'll save that for another day.
Image

and another shot of the dash.

judging by how hot the original resistors got, your replacements won't last long.... you need at least 1 watts.

Another optical illusion. They hadn't even seen power when I took that pic.

I kinda assumed the resistors were special, but I'm not going to break the bank ordering special resistors when I have those onhand. New ECC's go on ebay for about $50.

Nice electronics work. I've got an LED in my driver's side door lock switch that is out, and I will be referring to this whenever I get around to replacing it.

Nice PA too. The mileage is higher than I would consider buying a car at, but I'm sure it's got a lot of life left in it with that new motor in it. How well does it shift?

And what's with the interior trim? Did someone go and paint all the wood pieces black, or did it come that way from the factory? I've never seen that before.

Wow, Andrew! Mechanic and electronics whiz all in one. We're not worthy!!!

Really coming along nicely, can't wait to see your interior make over. I see a few of those cars where I live, they're real sharp, and this one will be no exception!

x2 on the shifting. Does it drive nice?
