Frustrated with the Law.

Post by John Deere Boy »

Well i got pulled over today by the state police...I was in the semi hauling soybeans. There were four troopers at one intersection pulling over nearly every semi that went by. There were two other semis stopped at the same time as me. But anyway I got cited for

-not having a current IFTA sticker (its paid up...THEY never sent me a new sticker!)
-not having my DOT number posted on the outside of the truck
-no serial number on the trailer. (it had rusted off...there was no paint on the trailer when we bought it)
-no CDL physical. WTF is a CDL physical? I'm a farmer hauling my own grain...I'm not required to have a CDL and they know it.)
-not having paid the UCR Tax. (I paid it in both April and September of 08. Apparently they applied my April payment to 2007 and September payment to 2008. This is a brand new tax the bureaucrats just pulled out of thin air)

Ya know, I'm a farmer just trying to haul my grain to the elevator. I never travel more than 100 miles from home. Why is it that we have to get treated the same as professional truck drivers? There must be a dozen other stupid fees that i haven't even mentioned.

Reallllly mad at the government right now. But the ticket was only $177. Its all the *shoot* that's required to haul grain that makes me irritable.

/vent. thanks :???:

Oh we also got a letter from the BMV last week saying that our truck plates are invalid because we renewed them online. Soooo why would the BMV let me renew online if it wasn't going to be valid? Brilliant!

Holy crap. That doesn't sound like the red state IN has always been! what gives?

That's horrible. And apparently not an isolated incident with the BMV pulling the same bull. :bluetwitch:

I just got an IRS bill for HUT road tax for 2003 I sold the truck and stopped driving in Jan 2002. They now want 700 + dollars. I had this cleared up about 3years ago the first time. Now I have to prove it again.

Good luck to you and safe driving....

Yeah I love how with licensing and tax issues you're guilty until proven innocent- and you have to do the proving.

again and again and again.

We get robbed at the DMV now...

Tax/registration in MN has been uncapped for about a year now... If your car was registered before a point in '07, then it will be stuck at the price it has had. However new cars, or cars that are 1/2 years old, but never registered in MN can run 200-400 a year in registration/tax. Woman at the DMV was telling me about the 1100 registration she had the week before I was in..

The plate for the semi tractor is $1100, and the trailer is $600 IRRC.
