Re: 2009 Ford Fusion
I know Jerry had gotten one for his at-the-time lady, I'll see if he could chime in.
Have dealt with two of them actually, a 2011 four-cylinder SE for the lady-at-the-time, but that one is a different body style from the one here.
My dad has had a 2006 SEL V6 for the last three years, and it's ...

Re: 94 Camry 5SFE acceleration issue after timing belt chang
Best generation of Camry, IMO.
Along with what Don said, it's distributor ignition, right? Did ignition timing get touched during the job? Any crank or camshaft sensors get jarred?

Great pickup!!!! I'm jealous.
Those annoy me. Unless the production number was added from the factory, it doesn't belong on the car.00Beast wrote:Also, someone on FB is making engraved badges for your car, even includes the # of production, etc.

Re: Fall mini-meet, SE MI
Super excited for this!
I don't plan on doing any work to the Volvo, but you never know. Might look to get some scratches fixed / reduced, or brakes bled (my trademark Michigan brake job?). Though the last time I tore into a car in Michigan, I went home with only 75% of my rear subframe bolted in ...

I haven't made it out to MI at all this year, so it'd be nice to be able to go. Tentative pending date!

Drop from the last foot. My PDR guy removed hood dents I didn't even know about (which you then cannot unsee), caused by pushing the hood closed. That was enough for me.

Wow, this is terrible to hear. I live a stone's throw from the airport and would completely lose it if it happened to me.
Best of luck on the insurance front, I know it's not going to be fun, but stay principled and make the best of it.

Reposting what I said on Facebook. I have an autocross to run on Saturday during the day, so I'll head for Detroit right after and should make it for nightfall. Leaving Sunday afternoon. So far it looks like I'll have a friend coming with.

Re: 2012 Sonic
I drove a 1.8L Sonic as a rental once, expecting the worst, and was very pleasantly surprised. It had reasonable low end grunt and the 6-speed auto kept the revs where they needed to be. I can only imagine how much better it'd be with the 1.4T and a manual.

Re: steel wheels and back ups
If you really want 17" steel wheels look into the ones that came on the Crown Victoria police cars. I think they are 5x114.3 (same as a mustang) but I'm not sure on the offset if they'll clear the brakes.
I tried this route. OE Ford 17" steelies meant for a Mustang did NOT clear the GXP caliper ...

Re: 1990 Volvo 240 DL: Winter Beater, take 2
Engine mounts were done a year or two ago, it's unfortunate that they're soft as hell to begin with. I know it's for safety reasons - Volvo wanted the engine to break away and slide underneath the car in the event of a collision. The side effect of this being that you gotta replace the mounts every ...

Re: 1990 Volvo 240 DL: Winter Beater, take 2
I haven't had to do it, but service records from when my buddy owned it show the wiring to the overdrive relay repaired at least twice. So far it's working for me, very distinct difference when the OD is engaged/disengaged. It's a *dang* shame that there's no lockup torque converter though, highway ...

Re: 1990 Volvo 240 DL: Winter Beater, take 2
There's quite a bit to be said about driving a slow car fast as opposed to a fast car slow :P With some snowfall, I can drive this Volvo at 10/10ths and giggle like a little kid. If I tried the same with the G8, it'll try to kill me.
