Re: elc pump compressor drier design
Because I'm cheap and I'm a firm believer in that real mechanics should try to repair parts before opting to just replace them. Many parts can simply be fixed rather than replaced, with patience and mechanical inclination. If I fail to reassemble a functional elc pump, then and only then would say ...

elc pump compressor drier design
Given the lack of response to my last similar thread, I don't expect much different for this one, lol.
Now, the black canister attached to the compressor assembly of the elc pump, the drier, how are those assembled or better yet, diassembled? There has to be a way to disassemble the flippin things ...

Re: If you have ever been inside of an elc pump, PLEASE help
BTW, I have read willwren's (I believe) write up on elc pumps and sure enough it shows the solenoind out of the housing. I'm curious as to how it was removed. I'm of the opinion that mine is simply frozen to the housing...

If you have ever been inside of an elc pump, PLEASE help
So, I've disassembled the elc pump from my 02 Deville as there are some serious suspension upgrades coming its way. In fact, the shocks are already here but I'm not putting them on without a functional pump. Now, I have a semi working pump lined up in hopes of making one from two but that's next ...

Re: 03 Monsoon rear full range or subs?
Wait, wait, wait. The restitor idea should in fact work based on a mod that some 00+ base Deville owners have to use. It hadn't dawned on me before, even while posting the above post, other then the idea of the resisitor itself. What I wasn't realizing is that the application is basically the same ...

Re: 03 Monsoon rear full range or subs?
IIRC they are 2 ohm subs. I have JBL GTO 928 2-way speakers on my rear deck. Two wires are connected to them are running low frequencies only and come from the amp, and the tweeter currently isn't doing anything. In order to get the tweeters to work, I'll have to splice from the rear door speakers ...

Re: 03 Monsoon rear full range or subs?
I was just thinking, is it possible to run the two 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel at 2 ohms, then install some sort of resistor pack to raise the resistence back up so the amp sees a 4 ohm load like it should? Or will the amp cook any resistor you try to use?

Re: 03 Monsoon rear full range or subs?
I am not completely sure, but from what i have heard they're wired together to make 1-4ohm sub from 2-2ohm speakers.
Just realized I posted this in the wrong section. Sorry for not paying attention.
OK, I'll look into some 2 ohm 6x9 drivers and hope they exist. If not, perhaps haro may have some ...

03 Monsoon rear full range or subs?
Do the 6x9's in the rear of the Monsoon equipped cars act as full range or subs? I've got a lil rattle in one and was thinking of ordering a pair of Infinity Reference to replace them. I do need 2 ohm, right? I've read it a million times, I just want to verify.

If you're wanting to use a proven coolant system additive, I recommend Redline Water Wetter.

Re: lets talk public perception
Haven't heard the whole 'grandpa/grandma' thing and don't expect to. You hardly ever see SSEi's here. So with that said, our Bonneville turns heads of all ages and it seems to me that the majority are female. When we picked it up, we actually pulled on the lot to look at suv's and my wife pointed to ...

Re: And so it Begins...
Ok, not sounding bad now. When my wife gets home tomorrow I'll take it out for testing. Maybe I just wasn't feeling it every time. One thing I haven't paid attention to is if it slowly falls into od like our 07 Impala did. I did not like the way that felt. Instead of just seeing the rpm's drop like ...

Re: Work Underway; EDIT: DONE!
I could certainly live with $1200 across three years and that's a real performance gain and not placebo performance. Engine management and monitoring are no brainers, especially in a forced induction application so I really don't count them when adding up performance mod cost. Add in that these are ...

May I ask what your total investment in this round of work has been, sir? If you've posted it, I've missed it. Skimming is always FML. Sounds like output changed significantly but was the cost to gain worth it is what I'm after. Just from reading it seems like power and track ET per dollar invested ...

Re: Post-Rebuild Expectations on 2000 SSEi
Odds are that you did not have a blown head gasket, as that is extremely rare with the 3800. You likely had a bad upper intake manifold, and maybe leaking lower intake gaskets. You can read about it here.

Re: Post-Rebuild Expectations on 2000 SSEi
No, its not on them. Most engines can typically have the top end done without worrying about the bottom even after a blown head gasket. I was warned by my GM tech that he's seen many of these engines fail after redoing the just the intake manifold gaskets. If they knew these engines well, then they ...
