Re: grinding sound, now have no reverse, 3rd or 4th.
I've thought about rebuilding, but time is crucial as this is my only car. Buying a rebuilt tranny is cheaper than anything else I could get for the money, then I could get it in over a weekend.

grinding sound, now have no reverse, 3rd or 4th.
At 275,000 and change, my transmission has started to act up. All summer long I could only get reverse after waiting 3 or 4 minutes. Yesterday I put it in reverse and heard a clunk. No reverse at all. I can drive it more or less as 1st and 2nd still work but above that is does nothing but slip out ...

Re: Oil pressure gauge sensor leak
What if it is leaking out the end? Would I need a new sender?

Oil pressure gauge sensor leak
My oil pressure gauge sensor leaks no matter what I do. I tightened it up, put on teflon tape and re-installed it; but no matter what it leaks a lot after a day or two. What can I do to fix this?

buying a remote fob
My car came with the remote door lock/unlock option, but the actual fob is long gone. What should I be aware of when buying a new one?

Re: car won't start in park.
That is what is confusing. A bad starter won't be effected by the shift lever location.
I think the shift lever position is a coincidence, and you are right about a bad bendex drive. Is there a way to replace just that? I priced new starters at 120 bucks on up,but money's really really tight for ...

Re: car won't start in park.
Yes, the starter won't engage and turn the car over unless I shift it out of park and back. Are you saying the engine doesn't turn over, just the starter is turning while in park?

car won't start in park.
Lately, my car won't start in park. I can hear the starter whirring fine. A lot of times if I shift throught the gears to first and back, it starts up no problem. It also starts fine in neutral. Any of you run into this?

I ended up bypassing it with some resistors, and it works great! Thanks for the help.

taking out the bike
My other thing is a 1980 Honda motorbike. I got it earlier this year, and have been fixing it up.
I'm getting as much riding in as I can before I put it up for the winter.

Re: car won't start
I've read up on that as well. Come to think of it, I'd like to put in a remote start someday; you have to bypass the VATS to do that, right?

Re: car won't start
I cleaned the pellet, still nothing. I've been reading through the forum, and a lot of people said the ignition cylinder gets bad. I'm going to get the other key from my friend and try that first.

car won't start
I went to start my car up, and nothing happens at all. I get a click from the passenger footwell, and the security light blinks. That's it though. Anybody else have this happen? I'm guessing BCM.

Re: Cars you used to own/drive
no pics, I'm afraid but I've had:
1972 Impala, grey and rust colored
1971 Chrysler newport, Dark Brown and denty
1968 Plymouth Fury, yellow, rusty and loud
1986 Prelude, grey and go-kart like in comparison to above
1988 RX-7, red and free. It was in a house in Boulder I'd moved into. So I drove it ...

Re: 500,000 miles and beyond
I'll have to check out the UIM you are talking about. I believe they offer a setup with the upper intake manifold AND the LIM gaskets, like 168 bucks or so.
How about suspension? I'd imagine ball joints, tie rod ends, etc I ought to replace on general principle. If I were to get new front struts ...

line in rear door windows
No matter how thoroughly I clean them, my rear windows have a faint line across them where the weatherstrip sits when they are rolled down. Has this kind of thing happened to anybody else? What tips do you all have to clean this off the windows?

Re: good evening from Nebraska!
no engine or trans work I know of aside from filter changes. I'm waiting for a radiator to come by UPS tomorrow; mine has a crack.
And yea, it is a blue interior. I remember when my friend bought this car in 03, I really dug the color. I told him I'd buy it if he ever wanted to sell it. :) And now ...

Re: 500,000 miles and beyond
@willwren
4 transmissions? I'm at 253 thousand miles and change on the first tranny! Admittedly, it does slip a bit, and I plan on getting one to rebuild over the winter; but I think I'll do ok.
I see your points though about rust, electronics, etc. To prevent rust,I'd have to not drive the car ...

500,000 miles and beyond
I've read a list on this forum of maintinace items to replace (PCV valves, etc) What would you recommend I check out/replace at 200,000 miles, or 300,000 miles? I'm going for a longevity record as I've never seen that done yet.
