Re: GM coolant elbow O-ring melted in one month. Why?

Jazzy the only o-rings that are supposed to be orange all the way through are silicone. It is possible some one mixed up silicone orange o-rings with GM orange painted o-rings. But now days you can probably buy any color o-ring you want from china.

The GM – Delco o-rings (25537068) and (24502846 ...

Re: GM coolant elbow O-ring melted in one month. Why?

Jazzy if you coated those o-rigs with decent RTV they are not going to leak.

PS: If you want to make sure your o-rings never leak buy a set of GM o-rigs and stash them in a drawer. The fact that you are prepared to replace the existing o-rings will guarantee the old ones will never leak.

Crankshaft position sensor is a pain to replace only use GM 10456161 or ACDelco 213151.

With vacuum at the oil filler cap the first thing to check is the PCV valve o-ring to make sure it is in place and not split.

Re: 1995 Bonneville: Bad idle, stalling, shaking, backfire

Brake fluid wont hurt any rubber part inside of a brake booster but brake fluid will eat up your paint.

All rubber parts in a brake vacuum booster are made out of Ethylene Propylene the same rubber used in the master cylinder. All of the brake parts that can come in contact with brake fluid are ...

Can you elaborate on what fluid leak could have caused the brake vacuum booster to go bad?

Once the car won’t start when cold it is unlikely it will start again.
If you do manage to get it to start you wont get far.

Re: Do coolant elbows without removing uim and lim?

I replaced the coolant elbow over 10 years ago and used Permatex Ultra Black and it is still tight.

Yep I have been using Permatex Ultra Black on radiator hos3es and o-rings for many years. I use a thin film of UB on the T-stat housing instead of a flat gasket. The stuff makes sealing better and ...

Re: Fuel leak!

Yep there are two o-rings in each fuel line connector and each o-ring is separated by a plastic spacer. Like Agrazela said you only need two viton o-rings for each fuel line connector that is leaking.
The o-ring’s are not easy to replace but with a few tools, steady hands and good lighting it can ...

Re: L36 maf sensor removal

Once you get the T-20 security bit and remove the screws.
In 95 and 96 the TPS, IAC, and MAF were held in with simple Phillips head screws. Sure makes it easy to work on not having to mess with Torx.

I reused the factory balancer bolt and used a drop of blue locktite and torked to 180 ft. lbs. I am not going to risk breaking the bolt with that 76 degrees rotation past 111 ft. lb.

Re: Guess I need case learn?

Thanks for the reply not many members left in this section.
I replaced the CPS because the motor would randomly cut off and the tach would barely move when cranking. When the motor would decide to run I removed the fuel and ignition relays and cranked the car. With the relays removed the tach would ...

Re: Guess I need case learn?

SSEBonne4evr you have me wondering if there is a CASE learn for 1996 GM cars.
After a long search I can’t find any mention of P1336 or CASE learn in the 96 factory service manual?
