Nope, there is an access panel in the trunk, just like the Bonnevilles.

Hehe, if I only lived closer... although a one way flight to Chicago isn't too expensive...

Re: Project: 2000 SSEi (My First!)

Had two lookers on top of each other the first night the ad was posted (last Tuesday), but both were looking for a car for their wives... and with the windshield cracks and gas door rust, I don't think this would fit the bill for a wife's car.

I then had absolutely NO calls whatsoever, which was ...

Re: Project: 2000 SSEi (My First!)

About 14 months since purchase, I finally have this one for sale. I really would prefer to sell my Camry and finish this one up in terms of A/C and bodywork, but I think the wife is sick of me spending time in the garage.

It is running great, i have about 800 miles on the rebuilt engine already ...

For the windshield, do you spend the extra $100 or so for the heads up windshield? I'm not sure what the difference is between it and the standard.

Re: Project: 2000 SSEi (My First!)

I hit 500 miles on the rebuilt motor tonight, so I had a little Wide Open Throttle fun on the way home. Wow... I've owned and driven many a 3800, but this is the first supercharged one that I've had. Very impressive! 0-60 felt like 6 seconds at the most... which is impressive for a car that pulls 23 ...

Re: Left head vs. right head?

The four that are not moving up and down slightly are more than likely on a lobe (i.e. the valve is in process of opening or closing).

I'm not sure one the exact adjustment of these aftermarket ones, but for the stock ones, I torqued each one to spec when on the baseline of the cam.

Also, your ...

First off, you gotta remember who you're asking, LOL.

LOL... I was considering posting this same question to toyotanation.com or camryforum.com... but honestly, I hate both of those sites! And I know what their answer would be.
Speaking of sites, this one has been instrumental in getting me into ...

Re: What do you guys think this car is worth?

Is this on ebay too? If so then it has a salvage title, which scares many away if you ever try to resell.

Its hard to tell how bad the paint job is from the few photos he posted.

There is currently a 2002 SSEi on ebay with 132,000 miles in PA for $5300 with a clean title.

I would think the one ...

Decision time... sell my SSEi or Camry?

So I FINALLY got my 2000 SSEi a bit cleaned up and on the road (http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=24529), and she sure drives nice! I have a couple of minor issues to work out (intermediate shaft, axle, windshield, A/C needs charged, possibly tires). I'm in the process ...

Re: replaced motor in my 95 suburban tbi and cant get it sta

I don't pretend to be educated in these matters, but here goes. You set base timing (whatever the stock setting is) by unplugging the plug in the dash you speak of. Set it with the timing light, tighten the adjustment on the distributor, and then leave it. Plug the plug back in, and the computer ...

Wow, all of that body work for only $650??? Great price, plus it looks AWESOME!

What did he use to fix the gas door rust... metal and body filler or just filler? Not sure if they sell patch panels for that area.

I'd love to fix my rust, even if it only lasts a couple years longer.

Re: Project: 2000 SSEi (My First!)

I may have found the cause of my freeze plug issue. For some reason, I thought I needed 1-9/16" plugs, but upon further review, I think they should have been 1-1/2". There is still nowhere I can find that states this as a fact, but I did notice that RockAuto had little heart icons by the 1-1/2" ones ...

Re: Project: 2000 SSEi (My First!)

Good news... after a quick battery charge, and a few cranks without the fuel pump, she fired right up, with great oil pressure, no check engine light, and no oil leaks. I scared the hell out of my daughters who were upstairs when I screamed out in joy after ignition!

Re: Project: 2000 SSEi (My First!)

Scraping many layers of dust off of this thread...

Over the past few months, I completed the rebuild, given that #6 was knocking, I had the rods reconditioned, cylinders honed (they were fine), cam and balance shaft bearings replaced, bought a new crank and installed new rings and bearings. Valve ...

Oil Pressure Relief Valve

Finally getting back to my Project 2000 SSEi almost a year after purchase, and have an engine assembly question.

I'm ready to install the Oil Filter Mount... but don't recall if the piston or spring goes into the block first. My gut feeling is spring first, then piston (installed so that the spring ...

Head Gasket Installation Question...

While assembling my engine for my project 2000 SSEi, I began the head installation with the 2-4-6 head. I swore I looked at the "FRONT" on the Fel Pro gasket, and the arrow on the gasket also pointed to the front of the motor. So I torqued down the head and proceeded to install the 1-3-5 head ...

Given this... http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=24529... which is still a work in progress, how about swapping motor/trans. from the Florida '02 into the Ohio '00 and sell that off, and use the motor I'm rebuilding and the ...

Considering a 2002 SSEi...

I'm in Naples, Florida for a week and have been trying to find a clean car to drive home to Ohio. Found an 01 LeSabre Limited from a private owner for $5900 with 67,000 miles which has spent its whole life in Naples in very good shape, but I really want an SSEi.

I just found the following... http ...
