Re: mufflers....

I thought about a j tube setup myself, but in addition or my humungous resonator and mufflers.

Thing with exhaust is there are so many variables and its such a subjective topic that the only way to know for sure what works is to experiment for as long as your bank account holds out.

Re: 2000 SSEI muffler delete

If you want a good sounding SSEi, bet a set of these Hooker Headers Aero Chamber Mufflers

Re: Updated trans mount design - The Boat Roller Mount

Not bad, looks good and all the boat roller has to do is support the engine. The bolt keeps the engine from rotating back when hard on the gas. I made the first solid mount for the SSEI back in '01 or '02, put over 200k miles on that solid mount and when I sold the car it was working as good then as ...

Re: Tires

255/50-17 is what we ran on our '00 SSEI put 254,000 miles on that car and all but the first set of tires was 255/50-17. That size should have been the stock on the '00 SSEI.

Re: Tires tires tires

255/50-17 is what I had on my 2000 SSEI, ran that size for over 200k miles. It is also the size that GM "should" have put on the SSEI.

Re: Hockey puck mount bolt

I made the first solid mount for a 2000 SSEI back in 2001 and I put over 220k miles on it with just a grade 5 bolt. Just sold it last week, going to miss that car.

Oil Filter Adapter to Run Larger Oil Filters

For those who want to run larger oil filters on the 3.8L this will allow a whole bunch more filter sizes to be selected.

http://rjcracing.com/product/oil-filter-adapter/

This part screws onto the existing M18 x 1.5 filter nipple, and converts it to the 13/16 -16 thread size.

Re: HID or Xenon?

Go with the HIR2/9012 for the low beam. The small difference in light output is far outweighed by not replacing expensive HIR1/9011 bulbs every 6 months. And, the HIR2/9012 has the filament in the exact same spot as the 9006, or at least close enough to be unnoticeable. I can't say the same thing ...

Re: Tire size conflict!!!!

That is why the 255/50-17 tire is so good, it's the same height as the stock 235/55-17 tires at 27" your DIC, speed-o will be just like the way they were with the stock tires.

Re: HID or Xenon?

Standard low beam light has 1000 Lumens and the standard high beam light has 1700 Lumens so going to 2400 or 3000 Lumens is a lot more light.

Re: HID or Xenon?

I would put the HIR1 in both the low and high beam side.
HIR2= 2400 Lumens
HIR1= 3000 Lumens
You do this just like you would by putting the standard high beam bulb in the low beam side for more Lumens(more light).

Re: Tire size conflict!!!!

255/50-17 is what looks and drives good on a SSEI. I have over 200k miles with that size tire and I think that is the size that the car should have come with from the factory.

You can mod the high beam light to fit the low beam side or go with these

Re: Hood modification

Just something simple yet effective.
Yes its simple, but how do you know it will be effective?

When I was drag racing full time back in the 70's I would see hood scoops that would face forward but at speed the high pressure under the hood would force the air "out" of the hood scoop. The more air ...

Re: Das Auto: 2012 VW Passat TDI

Out west we can put on lots of miles(we like to do 800 mile day drives) so we do spend a lot of time above 75 mph. What do you think your new TDI will get at those speeds? and how well does it take the hills? We have some roads that have up to 26% grades and in the SSEI that would use a lot of gas ...
