Blower Motor Stopped Working
The blower motor in my '02 SLE stopped working. It has climate control. The bars on the indicator display what you normally see, but the fan wasn't working. To diagnose that it was actually the blower fan that was broken, I grabbed a phillips head screw driver and removed the plastic cover under the ...

Re: P0440 and Check Gas Cap
Reporting back that the "Check Gas Cap" message has not returned, nor has the P0440 code since replacing the solenoid. I'm still getting a slight odor of gas when idling at times that I haven't been able to track down.

Re: Need help, please
I referenced your code in Alldata. They're suggesting that you look for arcing or carbon tracking on any of the secondary ignition wires - and - that this could be the result of a faulty coil. I'm wondering if it's possible you may be able to fix the trouble by cleaning the coil posts? Sounds too ...

On my '02 SLE (naturally aspirated) 3.8, it's just to the right of the coils.

Re: P0440 and Check Gas Cap
Alldata refers to the part as a valve - but when I went to NAPA Autoparts, they list it as a solenoid. Not sure why - it's a solenoid. Sorry for the confusion.

P0440 and Check Gas Cap
My 02 Bonneville, at 104k, was intermittently displaying the "Check Gas Cap" message on the DIC, and then it threw the P0440 code. Right before it threw the P0440 code I detected a slight odor of gas when idling the car. I replaced the Evaporator Cannister Purge Valve/Solenoid, cost $31.95, erased ...

Re: Making Transmission throw P1811 code...
Mine would go into adaptive shift mode when I was driving it like granny would - waiting in line at stop signs, drive throughs, etc. I seemed to be able to avoid having it act up by accelerating a little harder with it, and avoiding stop and go...

Re: Making Transmission throw P1811 code...
What I ran up against is (1) most people don't have the tools to troubleshoot and identify a bad PCS themselves, (2) if you did have it diagnosed by someone else and knew for certain that it was bad, it's not only time consuming to replace it (ALLDATA states 5 hours), it's not an easy job. With the ...

Re: Making Transmission throw P1811 code...
Hey Beast:
That's right dude. Replacing the PCS is ultimately the best solution. If you want to continue to suggest band aid alternatives to most members of the site you claim to speak for, go for it. Not saying they won't work - or for how long - and no big deal - when they don't work - the ...

Re: Transmission starting to act up a bit
You're not alone. It really does sound like the car is going into adaptive shift mode (P1811). My suggestion is to bring it to the stealer and have it diagnosed - I'm betting good money you need a new PCS. I would not recommend trying to solve this problem by changing out thermostats or putting in ...

Re: Making Transmission throw P1811 code...
I just had my PCS replaced 3 days ago (02 Bonneville - 102K). The car never displayed the 1811 code that I could read with my OBD II scanner; never flashed the code on the dash. The dealer was able read the code with their scan tool. They also test drove it and stated on the invoice that the PCS ...

Just wanted to add - the display bulbs should be brighter than what the 272-1092's are. It's all good in the shade or night, but in full sun, they lack the illumination you would expect. They do work though. Okay if you're not fussy about it: better than none at all fore sure.

Re: How to: 2000+ radio light fix tutorial (45pics)
Okay! First thanks for such an informative post. I was able to complete the repair in 3 hours today - how nice it is to have a display in my radio again! I had all three display bulbs burned out as well as the lower three illuminating the bottom row of buttons. A bit of a learning curve removing the ...

This happened to me on another vehicle. I had low voltage. At about 120k I think. After disconnecting and clean the connections to the alternator, all the symptoms went away. My brother drives the car still with 160k on the orig alt.

Re: How To: Replace Front Motor Mount 02 Bonneville
Just bought the car 3 weeks ago with 98k for $5900.00. It's a one owner trade from New Jersey. I first opened the trunk to make sure Jimmy Hoffa wasn't in there. Very clean. Bought at auction in Shakopee. It was serviced at a Cadillac dealership in a suburb of New York City, close to the Hudson ...

Re: How To: Replace Front Motor Mount 02 Bonneville
It's 1/2 inch drive. I have a Snap - On brand set that has served me well over the years. The rest of my tools are a potpourri of brands, but always seem to get the work done.
