Re: Calling the audio Gurus!!!
Well 4 gauge wire is sufficient for 100a of current for 18'.. The polk pa series amps run a little hot, but I haven't seen any go into thermal protection. I would assume the voice coil on the sub is the issue. Unless your using really small speaker wire going to the sub. Or a wire is loose inside ...

Re: Calling the audio Gurus!!!
You have a mono block amp on your front stage, so you have no stereo separation up front. Also the frequency response on a sub amp is definitely not going to be 20hz-20khz, further limiting volume and how it sounds. You can run all 4 speakers off the 2CH amp, you just wont have fading ability. As ...

MSD wires seem to be problematic with the 3800's. When I bought my GTP, it had MSD coils and wires, had a horrid miss under load. Swapped out to Napa belden wires and stock L67 coils, miss went away. For like 28 bucks and a lifetime warranty, you cant go wrong with Beldens!

Re: If You Use Halogen Headlights
I did relay harnesses and HIR bulbs in my 95, talk about stupid bright. Amazing output. Another thing you could do is find a 96-99 at a junkyard and rob the headlight off of it, clear housings and a reflector that's in better shape will do wonders for the output.

Re: Be honest with me.
Sealed box= better frequency response, and tighter/punchier bass. Not very efficient though. Ported will net you more output but at the cost of some SQ(depending on the tuning of the box.) You'll want to make sure that your box is within +/-10% of the subs manufacturers recommended airspace. Too big ...

Grand Prix GXP transmission compatability?
I have a friend that just wrecked his 07 GXP(so sad...), but anyways, it only has 90k on the tranny, it looks like the transmission didn't sustain any damage from the wreck, but I was wondering if it would fit my 2000 SSEi? They are both 4T65-HD's right? He said he would sell it to me for a good ...

Re: Running On Fumes
On my 95, when the fuel pump quit,(right after i filled the tank!), me and my dad unbolted the fuel filter and stuck the fuel line into a gas can, and hooked 12v to the fuel pump test lead, and let the fuel pump run until the tank was empty. The test lead is located behind your battery in between ...

Re: Headlight options
I did the full HIR upgrade with relay harnesses on my 95, and they are just stupid bright! Definitely a great upgrade. Around here where I live only the silly ricers put HIDs in their halogen housings. The ones who want usable bright light go the projector route.

2 fast tests...engine off, can you turn the belt system at all? any play either direction makes the balancer suspect.
then, remove the belt from the crank pulley, secure it out of the way and start the engine for a few seconds, is it quiet now?
A bad balancer sets up quite a racket, and ...

I have a Kenwood Excelon X395, and I love it. It has 3 sets of 4v pre-outs, and high/low pass filters. The only time I've ever had it skip was when I got rear-ended lol!

You'll like the sound of the Polks, I'm fairly sure that they will sound fine with just the headunit powering them. You will get more low-end and they will sound more dynamic if you amp them though.

Re: Door hinges
Well my friends sisters 98 chevy silverado had that same problem, the holes were stretched out. What they did was welded the hole, and then drilled it out to fit the bushing. I thought it was pretty crafty, it works great. The door shuts with no problems
