Re: 89 Bonneville sse no dash lights
There is pin connectors when you pull the dash cluster that may have lost contact.
Also a green ribbon wire connector that could have a break in it on rear of cluster.
I have a spare cluster off a 91 SSE. What is the part number?

Re: Water leak from Door Seals, rear passenger door '99 SSEI
I did my 96 and no leaks.
You don't just replace the seal, you pull it out and re-position in place from the top down,
working your way toward the bottom.
By the time you get to the bottom door sill there should be a 2" gap or so, because the orig seal shrunk.
Insert a 2" piece from the JY there ...

Re: 99 SSE turns off while driving
I had this happen a few times and after replacing a lot of parts unnecessarily, I found a bad connection at the ECM. It's under the coils, and there's a large plug with lots of wires and an 8mm bolt in the center that holds the plug in. Someone had over-tightened the bolt and cracked the plug and ...

Wiper intake as stated was my left leak.
Also, Re install the door seals filling in the bottom
with a piece from the yard.
Could be as much as 2" shorter at the bottom when you do this.

Re: coolant temperature sensor, sending unit, or gauge?
If it is in your long term plans to do diagnostics and troubleshooting on this car, and you are willing to learn many things about it, it may be a good move to get a scanner that can read live data. That takes much of the guesswork out of many things.

Re: Electric sounding whining noise?
You will find out when you drop the pan if there is debris in it and a clogged filter.
Did you check out the power steering pump first?
I had this whining problem and a pump fluid change did the trick.

Re: Instrument cluster & DIC on, then off, then on, then off
When my 90 SSE cluster did the same thing, I pulled the cluster, and it was a break in the
green printed circuit ribbon that connected the compass to the DIC.
Sottered a jumper wire and all was good.
They may have changed them in the succeeding generations as I have never had my 96 apart to date ...

Re: Subframe advice. Rear holes.
work is progressing on the subframe. Got entire right side done, complete with
4" washers.
Come up short I rear upper rubber insulator bushing.
Anyone have one lying around from a previous project?
Just re-using the lower bushings.
