Re: Misfire problem
The auto parts scanner told me cylinder 3 misfire as well, but it was the number 6 wire that was broken. Check all your wires and plugs first.

Re: new here
Yep. Sounds like the worst of the problems is behind you with the intake manifold gaskets being replaced. I just finished up the same thing on my 03. Car runs so much smoother now.
I would look into a trans cooler if I were you. Not sure if your year model has hard shift issues or not like mine ...

Re: Spare L36. What would you do?
The motor as it sits is worth no more than 500 dollars at the maximum.
People have put the 3800 into the Deville, I've seen a couple. There was one member here who had one. Not sure if it still had the 4T80 under it or the 4T65.
If it was possible to get the 3800 to mate to the 4t80 and work, I ...

Re: Spare L36. What would you do?
Let me also ask this question. Say I were to find a DeVille with a bad engine in it. I know the Deville's use the 4t80 trans, but could I get some tuning and harnesses to make the 3800 work in the caddy for a reasonable price?

Good point. I guess a turblow or aftermarket s/c would be the better option for an f-body.nos4blood70 wrote:Yes you can, but there is a small issue with the blower clearing the cowl. Also, the blower will still be fed from the back.

Re: Spare L36. What would you do?
How much do you think the engine is worth? 170000 miles on it when it was wrecked? It's been sitting for about 3 years now.

Spare L36. What would you do?
As most of you guys probably have read in my other topics and posts, I have a 2000 Bonneville that was wrecked in the rear end that I was able to pick up for next to nothing. I had planned to use it as a parts car for my 2003 Bonneville. Well, I just completed an IM gasket job on my 03, and I couldn ...

Re: 5.3l swap
I thought about this too, but my car is no longer pretty, so I figured I should just leave it alone and save my money for a GXP or Impalla SS instead of going through the hassle of a swap. Too bad the 4T trans are so weak though.

Re: 3800 Transplant Questions
I see you guys talk about top swaps to run a charger on the L36 engines. Can you top swap the F body 3800s to run an L67 S/C setup?

Re: Need Engine 2002 sl
What is the going rate for a good engine? I have a 2000 Bonneville that has been wrecked in the rear end that has been sitting for a couple of years. It had 170,000 on it when it was wrecked, and it ran really well. I was planning to keep it to transplant into my 03 when it bit the dust, but for the ...

3800 Transplant Questions
This may have been asked and answered before, but can a 3800 out of a Bonneville or other front wheel drive be installed into a rear wheel drive car such as the Camaro or Firebird with minimal difficulty and vice versa?

Re: 94 Silverado engine swap
Are you talking about like the 5.3L LS/ LS based engines from 99-up? If so, your best bet would be to look at the ls1tech forum. If you are on the book of faces, there is a group called LS engine swaps and solutions. There is a guy on there a lot who claims to have swapped at least 40 LS's into GM ...

You really don't need to remove the crossover pipe to do the intake gaskets. At all
TBH, the factory crossover is fine. You'll need a tune to get the PLOG tho....
I am now thinking I will leave the crossover pipe in place for the gasket job because I don't want to risk breaking any bolts off.

Re: Rough Idle, PO303 Code
Could be a lower intake gasket failure over the intake port in the head, letting oil mixture into the cylinder, rather than coolant into the oil passages. I might be all wrong though.
Another thing to do would be to swap an injector and see if the code follows the #3 injector.
Thanks! I will ...

Rough Idle, PO303 Code
Well the hits keep coming. On my way to the parts house to pick up the parts, tools and fluids for the work I'm planning for the UIM/ LIM gasket job and the trans cooler and shift kit install and my car starts running really rough at idle. I make it to the store and they pull a PO303 Cylinder 3 ...

Re: Going to have to give her up
I do all my own maintenance. It would be extremely difficult for me to justify a new car payment vs. what my maintenance bill has been, though a fair case could be made once I get axles on the SSEi.
Good luck with the Sonic though!
