Re: Blown diff, stripped ring gear.
Are you positive? I dont see any way that the ring gear can come out. I have the passenger side torn down the diff and such removed. The ring gear that the diff rides on has several teeth missing. Ive reefed on it pretty good, it doesn't budge.

Re: Blown diff, stripped ring gear.
It was for a while... Then had to put it up for a few months because the diff literally shattered. Just driving normally up a hill and there she went.

Blown diff, stripped ring gear.
Is anyone familiar with how to remove the final drive ring gear from the 4t65e? Ive torn down the passenger side... Hopefully it is removable without gutting the poor thing. I have a new diff and output shaft for the old turbo beast. Hopefully she wont shred this one until i can fab up some mounts ...

Re: 4t65e finally gave up the ghost
Excellent! Once I pull the transmission and acquire a second sub-frame to mock everything up on, I will have to get a hold of him. This will be another trial and error build. probably no more difficult than what I have previously done. Anyway, I will try to document this process as best I can once ...

4t65e finally gave up the ghost
Driving home from work a few days ago, the tranny in the Bonneville blew out at last; a spectacularly loud *BANG* with signature box o' Legos grinding until she rolled to a halt. No Forward, no Rearward gears. awful noises coming from the center of the trans and the diff. The diff grenaded and from ...

Re: L36 Turbo Tuning Question
If you need any pointers, tables, or info I have a similar setup. Though, a couple things on my side are different I was in the same boat at one point. Plugs gapped at .035-.040. I have the offset tables for the #60's if you need them.

Re: For those who are interested
Cool setup. E85 does not like extreme cold weather.. it does get a little temperamental!

Re: For those who are interested
I'm back with the reference number from Coil Spring Specialties. Inv# 111999 is what you will want to reference for the springs that I am using, for those who were looking for that info. I have a driving video made that I will upload, I also have a 40th Anniversary Edition Grand Prix in my driveway ...

Re: For those who are interested
I am waiting on Coil Spring Specialties to get me an order reference number for you. Unfortunately the only summer pictures of the car are from when I was working on it. I have a few driving videos, just haven't uploaded them to YouTube yet. Still working on my tune here and there. It's always dark ...

Re: For those who are interested
So I had a bit of a catastrophe on Tuesday, E85 is a b*tch to start at -10F. Fuel vapors accumulated in my muffler, ignited and took out the muffler, the rear passenger inner fender well, and popped the rear bumper off... it was loud. Anyway, had a simple pipe put in place of the muffler. It is ...

Re: Is anyone good with setting up base-maps?
The speed6 is a bitch. I have a 2006 mica black GT. Pretty much everything you can bolt on besides a bigger turbo, 21 psi and 345 hp on e85... Semi slicks and solid mounts for anything but the driver's ass. I still would drive a Bonneville any day. But the mazda is fun for what it is. I dare say my ...

Re: ZZP CAI
Thing is though, NA cars love the cold air. You can't really effectively cool the incoming air in a blower car without an intercooler.
Agreed, but for blower whine, there is nothing better than some big ol' metal piping for resonance and an open cone. I'm guessing that's really what hes shooting ...

Re: ZZP CAI
I used to have the part numbers, but i had a pretty bada$$ setup on my bonneville and also on a buddy's GP. I used Spectre aluminum pipe bits and some couplers. You will need a 4-3.5" reducer, a 35 degree bend and a 22 degree bend from spectre and of course a 4" coupler with a cone of your choice ...

Re: Is anyone good with setting up base-maps?
No videos yet, it's dark every time I drive. I'll get a couple this weekend. Have to make a trip to buffalo to pick up some wheels for my speed6. This car is still the most pleasant thing I have ever had the opportunity to mod and drive. Ticked over 200k last night... the body is beginning to show ...

Re: Is anyone good with setting up base-maps?
OK so I've done a whole bunch of tuning over the past week or so, and arrived on a pretty solid street tune netting me a 6 second 0-60 with 2.86 final drive and 3630 weight. At 5 lbs of boost. Running a pretty smooth timing table up top with 18 peak wot an an innovate mtx-l wide-band afr of 12 ...

Re: Is anyone good with setting up base-maps?
I've been playing around with the maps that are on the repository. Bits and pieces from various ones compiling a reference in excel so I can log, compare, tune, rinse & repeat. It is getting there. I started with a stock file's tables, binning the tune I bought... though I did note, combining stock ...

Now, this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down and I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there, I'll tell you how I got a headache from a turbo Bonneville.
