Popping in for an update

My GXP has been quite the trooper other than that transmission ordeal shortly after I purchased her. When I moved to Florida at the end of August I put 2400 miles on her in less than 80 hours. She was fully loaded down, inside and out with bikes strapped on and everything I could squeeze inside of ...

Re: LD8 (VIN Y) PCM info

I don't have any info on if it's possible to view the data on these PCM's. It's kinda weird because everyone has the mindset it can't be programmed and no one bothers to dig up info, yet several companies can program it. If I had the time and money I would start learning about how it's done, but ...

Re: What's all the fuss with the GXP front engine mount?

The project GXP needed a new front engine mount, and I got Seth's

Do you mean you got the actual one that he had built, or that he's making them & selling them?!?

I need one for my car, wanna come install it too?!? :)

I am having one custom made for resale from milzymotorsports. He has almost ...

So the DIC stopped complaining about low coolant after I drove for about 100 miles. They replaced the manifold gasket and some hose to the evap system also and assumed it must have had an air pocket. Other than needing an alignment, coolant flush, blower motor and an air bag sensor she runs and ...

Re: Transmission fluid puddle on driveway

Have you looked at finding a used one or a rebuilt unit already? The local chain doesn't seem like a bad price all things considered, just trying to throw more options out there.

The prices weren't aweful, but I just bought the car in February. I still owed $3300 on a car worth around $7000 in ...

Re: Transmission fluid puddle on driveway

The dealer wants $4500 to replace the tranny. I'm having it towed to the local transmission shop later this week. The output shaft bearing gave out as well as the third clutch? The local shop is a large chain and they specialize in rebuilds. They seem to think that they can get it back together for ...

Re: Transmission fluid puddle on driveway

So the input shaft seal was leaking. It has never dropped before so it was very sudden. We replaced the seal and the 1.5 quarts of fluid and it seems fine now. Hopefully I don't have the dreaded bearing issue. :(

Transmission fluid puddle on driveway

My car always drips a little oil but nothing major. Today however, I was about to leave when I noticed an extremely large puddle of Trans fluid on the driveway and a trail leading out to the street where I had backed out. The Trans seems fine, but I parked it just in case. Any ideas what this may be ...

I'm in the market for some parts from a black GXP if you decide to part it out. My trunk lid has some fade on it that I'd like to get rid of and my rims are all destroyed. If you decide to part it out please contact me. I am also in need of a better drivers side headlight and a passenger fog light ...

I have submitted a new mount to milzy motorsports to have a solid mount manufactured for the GXP and northstars. It's only a matter of time at this point before completion.

Re: Fog Lights?

You may actually have to completely remake the black ground wire. 90* female connector and all. The other thing that it could be, is a loose metal mount plate for the bulb. What I mean by that, is that when you install the bulb, it mounts to a little stamped metal plate attached to the ceramic ...

Re: Northstar solid motor mounts group buy

I don't have specs yet. I am working on that. Milzy will be getting back to me on his assumptions on the design as soon as he receives my mounts for templates. I am doing the front and rear mount since you may as well replace both of them and be done with it imo, but the front is the priority for ...

Northstar solid motor mounts group buy

Alright everyone. I know that most of you Northstar folks have heard about or already had the typical motor mount issues where they give up every few thousand miles. I am experiencing this issue now. Alero and Grand Am owners as well as just about anyone with the GM 3400 V6 motor have found limited ...

Take a look at these as well.... http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/ctd/4381027126.html They are a lot better made then the Bonneville GXP's. 99% of the issues of Northstars have been worked out. And my Dad has one, it's been the most reliable car in our fleet. Plus you get super nice creature ...

Re: Buying a GXP Past 100K? Good Deal?

Well I bought mine for $5700 a few weeks ago with 156k. It still seems to be in decent shape all things considered, but if you can't do complex work themselves on your own vehicle I wouldn't recommend buying the GXP in spite of my love for it.
