Umm, there is a huge difference in value between a 96 SE and a 2000 SSEi. His car is worth twice as much as you say it is.

I am not saying about the price for my 96. I am just saying what his 2000 would be worth.

Re: WEll guys.. Someone offered to buy the Bonneville from m
Your car is really only worth about $3000 at the most. I would be doing good to get $2200. It doesn't matter how much you put into it. That doesn't change the Kelly Book price. Plus it's not like its a 1966 GTO. The money you would put into the GTO you could get it back as an investment. And your ...

Re: Am I Getting Ripped Off?
For all that work you had done its a great deal. Around here I would pay $75-$85 for labor. The plugs and the rest of the parts are as mark and they are all fare pricing. I just replace my belt two weeks ago, which cost me $39 from Advance Auto, and I did the work myself. People aren't faceing ...

Re: L26,L36,L67 Whats the differance?
Even with the Lim gasket problem the L36 II that is in the car now is still running strong. Just wonder how much damage it has done. It's paid for and is in really good shap, only 106,000 miles for a 1996. Would like to know if anyone has tried to install a NorthStar V8 in an early model Bonneville ...

L26,L36,L67 Whats the differance?
Ok what is the big differance in each of these 3800 serise motors? Is the horsepower the same. I have a 1996 SE with a seires II, which one is it? I don't see anything on the data plate that shows LXX. I have the LIM/UIM gasket problem and has been leaking for well over a year or two. So thinking ...

Re: blower speeds
if you can get two speeds out of it and the blower does come on, I would think its the fan switch. One way to test it is to deconnect the connector at the fan motor and check the volts going to the motor. Should get an increase in volts with each click of the switch.

It does not cuase it to run any richer. It just take into account the throttle is really wide open when you hit the floor. Its like advanceing you dewell in the old days with point igintion. And your right it doesn't take much foot presure to open the throttle. Before the engine would ever go past ...

Your kidding. So what is you get another factory radio for a JY. Would you still have to get the code from the dealer? It seems there shoudl be a fix for turning the code off.

Re: Overdrive pops in and out
After your normal commute, what does the trans fluid look or smell like? Taste if you like too!
Sounds like too many rpm's of slip detected in the TC, and unlocking would be the PCM's method of protection. Based on your fluid autopsy, we may suggest a pan drop and filter change, plus an external ...

Overdrive pops in and out
1996 SE, Auto trans. When driving up hill (not a big hill) more of an incline the overdrive pops in/out of gear when trying to mantain a constant speed. It drives fine other wise. To make it stop I just drop it down into "D" or third gear. Also in the mornings I can hear the clutch packs make their ...

OK I thought I had this fix. The air was blowing out of the vents for a couple of days. Now it only blowing out of the defrost again. What gives? Its 100 degrees in the shade with 110% humidity. Window air is not cutting it. I am about to let the car go. :banghead: Just wonder if I have another leak ...

Re: Whick Brand of Ignition would you use
Roger that on the receipt. I do think a better quality set of wires would do the job. I'll check em' out and see if they make a difference. Yes. All 3800's since 1993 have had the Delco ICM with 3 individual coils.
Burning out wires does not equal bad coils. Try Belden Premium wires from NAPA ...

Re: Whick Brand of Ignition would you use
I've been ready this thread and have a question. I have a 96' SE 3800 series II, do I already have the ungraded coil packs? or should a 02' yr swap be in order? Reason asking I am on my second set of igntion wires. For some reason I am burning up ignition wires or it could be I am still getting the ...

Re: Vents don't blow air out with fan running
:beerchug: Yep it gets pretty hot here in South Carolina. The hose I used to replace it was the only size the auto parts store had that came close. Plus the sales guy found a scrap piece and gave it to be free. Free is always good for a fix. Now that the air is blowing out I have to find my feron ...
