Re: 98 ssei ac compressor seized and keeps car from starting
Couldn't the bearing or something be so mucked up that it's just stuck there? The bolt above the AC compressor on it's accessory bracket had rattled loose, I'm hoping that the looseness made it wobble enough to thrown the bearing, or melt something around the pulley. It's just a hope. I'll know soon ...

Re: 98 ssei ac compressor seized and keeps car from starting
So you're saying the problem, being seized up like that, is the entire compressor? I was hoping i could pull the clutch and bearing out and find the culprit, replace it and everything would be fine, at least temporarily. I read about shops not doing this without replacing the whole ac because the ...

Re: 98 ssei ac compressor seized and keeps car from starting
I know all that. Ive read all the info i could find, which is basically what you said. I need specific info on the ac clutch pulley and bearing, what tool i need to replace it, and anything that would help on an operation like that. I know theres people who have done this without mangling thier ac ...

Re: 98 ssei ac compressor seized and keeps car from starting
im positive the problem is a siezed compressor. I lubed up the ac pulley and it started, and just slid over the compressor pulley. Also a visual confirmation proves its the only pulley not moving.

98 ssei ac compressor seized and keeps car from starting
For the past few weeks ive noticed a squeeling, rattling, grinding kind of sound, and located it to be the ac compressor. yesterday it wouldnt start, and realized the ac pulley was stuck and was keeping the car from starting. I towed it back to my house and have to fix this myself. Ive read about gm ...

Who's trolling? I thought it was a good idea. No joke. It worked for me, I figured I would just throw a joke in there. No harm no foul.

Re: Cooling fans on the SSEi
You know a lot of you guys got a real superiority complex about this stuff. I know that, I was joking. I hope to god that someone wouldn't do that. I just hope that you guys understand that you can use that free sensor sitting up there to do what your hundred dollar scan tool can do for the same ...

Re: Cooling fans on the SSEi
I'm glad that someone as high and mighty as you finally came to set the record straight about putting the external temp sensor in the coolant tank. That's what I've been doing wrong all these years. Thanks for the clarification. If it wasn't for people like you all us dumb people wouldn't know what ...

Re: Cooling fans on the SSEi
Wait, you've never moved the external temp sensor around just to see what kind of readings you would get?

Re: Cooling fans on the SSEi
You could put it in the coolant reservoir and know how hot that thing is.

Re: Cooling fans on the SSEi
If you're feeling adventurous you can move the external temp sensor around and have an accurate temp gauge. Just don't melt it. I put mine in the intake box, and I have a real time gauge of the intake air. This also helps avoid city mpg.

I may have a solution to our cooling woes, at least part of it. I'll elaborate soon.

Re: 94 SSEi random stalling
lol the dealer is ripping you off. It's probably just a bad ground somewhere. Go to a yard and pull some old sensors and stuff, and if you think one is acting up, try swapping it out. You won't see that much of a gain, but you'll at least be able to notice the difference if you've got a quiet work ...

I'd be interesting in working on something like this. If you guys wanted to get together, working on different components, shipping them down the line for final assembly that would be cool.

You didn't by any chance go to the 3800 meet did you?
They're probably stuck if they're original. Maybe time to upgrade.

Re: Time for an L67 swap???
You might be able to get away without having to get a different cpu. I know it sounds rediculous, but the SC is a mechanical unit. As long as the bypass is configured correctly, and the pressure readings are correctly set in your current pcm you might be able to do it, but it's a big maybe.

Re: 94 SSEi random stalling
Resplice it. It sounds like an electrical problem. Maybe a bad ground somewhere. Check all the engine grounds, and battery connections. Know it's simple, but I'd start there.

Re: siphoning gas
All you got to do is put a pan beneth the fuel filter, disconnect it, and turn the car over a few times. Wait for it to die, and keep turning it over, no more than a few seconds at a time, then wait for a sec for the starter to cool off. Each time you do this you'll get a good squirt come out of the ...
